Very pleased that you decided to join up, and a warm welcome to CiC. We like active contributors here so I hope we will see you popping up in the forums before long. I'm not far from you, in the south east corner of Cheshire, so also on the edge of the Peak District. Do you have favourite haunts? Sadly, I am also only a stone's throw away from Bosley, where the fire and explosion in the mill have been much in the news of late.

Hello my name is Micky sorry for the very late introduction,sometimes work gets in the way.A little bit about me i live on the Tweed Coast NSW,I'm very new to photography and not very knowledgeable when it comes to cameras in general but that's why I've joined to try and expand my skill in using a camera.One thing have learned is that you cant improve if you don't get out and take pictures,a least I've moved away from auto and into the creative camera settings maybe one day soon I'll be able to upload a picture for and opinion. My equipment is Canon eos70D with a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 EX DC OS HSM lens

And that's why CiC exists as a forum - so that we can all come to it to learn from each other. Those that join because they think they know everything and just want others to know that, tend not to stick around too long. Mainly because they don't get their egos massaged.

Just one point on your address line in your profile that then shows up beside your posts. You might want to add 'NSW' to it. Otherwise some folks will a) think you're in Scotland or, b) not have a clue where you are.

Hello there. Grew up in the US, married an Aussie, so I'm in Australia for good now. We both work in the capitol of Canberra, but live a little over an hour away in rural New South Wales. With a daily commute through the countryside, I've developed a taste for landscape photography. However, our six horses drove my passion for equine photography. I consider my skills to be better-than-average, both in shooting and post. That is not to say there is no room for improvement... very much looking forward to learning more and improving my skills. I'm RBSinTO ( Robert Brian S------ in Toronto) but you can call me Robert.
I'm married with two children, four grand children and two cats. I work, play ice hockey, and read extensively. Among my favorite subjects are History, Quantum Physics, and Cosmology.
I have been photographing since 1977, using laughably outdated, horribly backward Nikon manual focus film SLR & rangefinder cameras, and lenses from the previous century. I neither own nor want any digital gear.
I'm mainly a candid street and photojournalistic photographer, although I have experience in a number of photo-genres, my work in other areas, while competent lacks soul.
I've joined here mainly because I heard that posted photos usually, and often receive feed-back, something sorely lacking at many other sites.
I look forward to comments on my photos and offering comments and constructive criticism to the works of others.

As I explained in the New Members introduction, I am mainly a street photographer whose only photographic desire is to tell stories with pictures.
To that end, I spend most of my photo-time walking the streets looking for interesting candid situations that arise, so I usually don't have any specific goal in mind when I set out. Whatever comes up, comes up.
I have found over the years both on various photo sites as well as in my photo club here in Toronto that street photography is not a particularly popular genre, and is not well understood even by those who judge clinics and competitions. Thus street work tends not to get many comments good, bad, indifferent or worse, constructively critical.
I learned of this site only by accident after it was mentioned in a discussion at Nikoncafe where I've been a member for a number of years, and based on the poster's comments decided to give it a try.
I sincerely hope that I'm pleasantly surprised and receive some useful comments on my pictures.

Hello all,
I'm Eric and I'm from the state of Oregon on the west coast of the USA. I've done some travelling and have seen a fair bit of the world. I have lurked on several different photography boards over the last few months trying to find one that I felt like I could enjoy. I am looking for good discussions on what makes a photo work and what doesn't. "Good" and "Bad" and "I like this", are all relative and all valid, but I'm interested in the "why". This site seems to have good discussions on these things. So, I think it's a place where I can do some learning.
I mostly like landscape and travel photography, but I also like capturing that basic human moment where life is just happening. I'm not sure if I have that natural "eye" for a good photo, but I also think that it's something that can, at least partially, be learned. So, here I am.

Hi Robert - Welcome to CiC. As a former Torontonian, it's nice to see another member from my old home town.

I still get down that way fairly often as I still visit family and friends down that way several times a year. There are a few other active CiC members from Toronto and Southern Ontario.

Just joined after several visits to the site which I found very good indeed as a resource. Not so sure about the member's area though - seems to be dominated by PS and Windows users - where are all the Mac and non-PS users hiding?
