Hello Yew-sung. Welcome to the CiC forum. Thank you for deciding to join. I hope you enjoy being a member of the forum and that you find it useful.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi my name is Pat and I am new to the site and also to the hobby of photography.
I live in Seattle Washington and enjoy photographing outdoors in the Pacific Northwest, it is such a beautiful place to live and photograph. I started this hobby a couple of years ago with a Canon 40 D and have now upgraded to the new Canon 7 D Mk ll, my lenses are pretty generic right now as i learn more I will upgrade to better lenses. My biggest photographic inspiration and the reason that I bought the 40 D has been our vacations to Arch Cape on the Oregon coast, it is so beautiful it is hard to take a bad picture
I found this site while I was online looking for photography sites and I really liked the format so I became a member, I hope to learn from everyone here and become a better photographer.
Thank you, Pat

Pat - A very warm welcome. Great top have you here.
So far as cameras are concerned, your pathway and mine have followed identical paths - 40D and then 7DMkII.
I'm glad that you like what you've seen on the site and I hope that your membership of the forum proves to be enjoyable as well as useful
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Signed up because my dad uses this site so I thought I'd give it a go.

That seems as good a reason as any.
I hope you find the forum as useful and enjoyable as, hopefully, your dad does. What sort of stuff do you like photographing?
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

I am John. I live in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. I am fairly new to photography. My camera is a Panasonic Lumix FZ200 which I use primarily for bird photography but am not averse to other nature situations really anything at all that takes my fancy including macro, in particular plants and insects. I am looking forward to learning a lot and benefiting from other people's criticisms.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
G'Day John, you're in the right place for friendly and constructive help. If you're into macro you have probably already seen this thread https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/fo...hread47922.htm.
But if not have a look there are some very talented photographers in there.
Welcome aboard.
Greg

Thanks Donald, I humbly appreciate your warm Welcome to Forum.:)
As I mentioned earlier, I am always in learning mode irrespective of experience.
I honestly believe that, The day I feel I am experienced or a Pro in any field, my chances to get better LAPSE on that moment.
I hope you co-relate with the thought process which I am trying to elaborate.:)

Hi, my name is Mick and I live in Kent in the UK, I reached retirement age this year and my wife decided I needed a hobby so she brought me a canon 700D, which I have had great fun with. I attended a photo walk at a local castle and a workshop on the beach at sunset both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have always enjoyed photography and over the past few years have been taking "point and shoot" shots but now want to learn to take interesting photos rather than snaps.

Hello, Mick and a very warm welcome to the CiC forum. I certainly think you've landed in the right place to get the knowledge help and support that will allow you to move from being a casual snapper to being a photographer. The nice thing I finds about this forum is that the people willing to share their knowledge and experience remember that they too were once at the stage you are at now. The lack of pretension on here is heartening.
If you ever need any help in getting images posted into your message, then please do read the helpful guide that walks you through how to do it. Click HERE to read the thread.
Something else you might find useful. Sometimes people are not sure about asking for comments and criticism on their images. This thread gives you some helpful advice and guidance about how to get the best feedback from fellow members.

John - First of all, a very warm welcome to you. I hope you enjoy being part of this forum and find it useful.
And then, secondly, so that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I'm Ken. I'm in my mid fifties and have been shooting photographs since I was about eight or nine, so I'm a relative beginner in the field and trust me, it shows...
In fairness, these days I think of myself more of an editor than a photographer, mainly as a consequence of my work.
I work within the 'business' for a company that provides photographic equipment and services mainly to professional photographers and teaching institutions, and I promise that's the last time I'll mention it.
I spend most of my time producing digital files and exhibition prints for my clients and providing what tuition I can to help them produce as accurate an image file as they can, and over the years have plagiarised and paraphrased the contents of the Cambridge in Colour site constantly and shamelessly, for which I profusely apologise, but in my defence, I invariably say who I've stolen it from and only because it is, without doubt the most user friendly resource of its type I have to yet encountered (what a save...)
In the years I've been trolling through Sean's words of wisdom, I confess, I've only just really noticed the forum is here and it would be remiss of me to not join in.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Well, hello Ken - glad you finally decided to put your head above the parapet, and a warm welcome to CiC. And to the forum, which is just as friendly as the tutorials :)
You don't sound like a relative beginner to me! It sounds as though you have lots of expertise which I hope you will share, and at the same time learn from some of the excellent photographers here - sharing and learning is what we are all about.
Look forward to seeing you around,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Guys,
Craig EAST BRIDGFORD here. I live in Nottingham, England. Many years ago I owned a 35mm Canon and have just started re- learning with my first DSLR.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi there
I was looking for some materials to support my students and came across the cambridgeincolour site. I have been a professional photographer since training as a medical photographer and now I am predominantly involved in the application of photography to science including teaching forensic science students. My work often includes collaborations with other scientists and organisations for example some recent work for Derby Museum looking at paintings by Joseph Wright including false colour infrared and photomicrography of paint chips for a long term exhibition project.
I am always happy to help with any scientific or technical photographic work, problems, challenges etc.
For examples of work old and new see http://photolibrary.cladonia.co.uk. Please avoid the sections likely to have not so pleasant images especially if squeamish.
Best wishes to all
David

Welcome o0n board, Craig. Great to have you here. I hope you enjoy being part of the forum and find that it does help you along the learning curve. It certainly did that for me. When I returned to photography in 2009, people were talking about things like memory cards and megapixels. It was all a foreign language.

Welcome, David. I hope you will become a regular contributor to the forum and that you will share your knowledge and skills so that others on here can learn from you. This forum is nothing if it is not a place where people who can, do help those who strive after knowledge and support.

Hello Clement. Welcome to the CiC forum.
Cic was established as an online learning resource, so I hope that proves to be the case for you. Between the tutorials and this forum, there is a vast amount of i8nformation. And people on here will; always be very willing to answer questions, offer advice and opinion and, generally, try to help you improve your photographic knowledge and skills.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window.
