Hi, Tim, and a very warm welcome to CiC. We all learn from each other here, it's really what we are all about, so please jump in. We say, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask!
It does strike me that you must have to travel a bit from Folkestone to get to some mountains :) , but I hope you will be sharing some pictures.
Cheers,
Dave

Hello All, I am Aditya and have started doing my research and trying to get my basics of photography right. This is an amazing site and its been a great learning experience from the forums at CiC. I am equipped with a Nikon D7100, Tamron AF 70 - 300 mm F/4-5.6 Di(Digitally Integrated) LD(Low Dispersion) Macro for Nikon Digital SLR and Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35 mm f/1.8G Lens. Slowly but steadily I have started gaining knowledge on the various aspects and am pretty much excited about it now. Cheers guys.

Hello and welcome, Adiya. Thank you for choosing to join this forum.
I hope your excitement and enthusiasm remains into the future and that your participation in this forum helps you improve your photographic knowledge and skills.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hi -
My name is Barrie but I use an alias (Barr1e).
I took up photography when I retired early in 1999. I have used various brands of cameras but settled with Olympus. My wife also uses the same brand as I and I have to confess she is the better photographer. I post on a couple of four-thirds sites and this has helped me develop some skills to take and post some reasonable images. I look forward to doing the same here.
Regards. Barr1e

Hello and welcome. I'm very glad you made the decision. You'll probably have a good idea of the way the forum operates and the way in which people go about their exchanges. Now that you're 'signed up', I hope you'll join in.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello
My name is Chuck and I am new to this forum. I have loved photography for some time now. I started when I was in the high school dark room group and fell in love. I lost my way for several years and am returning in the digital age and am having some difficulties. I have a Nikon D7100 Body with several lenses but cannot master my Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. I take photographs at relatively high speeds (1/200th of a second or faster) and at say f/8 to f/11 for landscape and I am still getting what seems to be motion blur when I enlarge the photo via the rear screen. When I load them on the computer they are in fact blurry. I understand that I am an elder person but I cannot possibly be moving that much and am wondering how I might check my lens for errors. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks
Chuck

Hello, my name is Lisa, and I live in Manitoba, Canada. I've been enjoying photography for a long time, but have gotten more serious about it over the past few years, and I look forward to learning in this group. My main interest is nature and wildlife photography. I'm happy to have found this group!

Chuck - Your story is a mirror of my own. That's exactly what happened with me. In fact, I bought a digital camera and then someone said 'You need a memory card'. I didn't know what they were talking about!
Anyway great to have you here. But where are you? If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
As to your question, can I suggest that you copy that and start a new thread in, say, the 'General Photography Discussion' section of the forum, asking that question. It would be helpful if you could post up an example of what you mean at the same time. If you need any help in getting images posted into your message, then please do read the helpful guide that walks you through how to do it. Click HERE to read the thread.

And I'm very happy you've found us, Lisa. Hello and welcome. Thanks for joining. Hopefully you have a flavour of this group and the type of people on it and the fact that its main purpose is to help people learn and develop their photographic knowledge and skills. The one rule is that there is no such thing as a dumb question. If we want to ask something, we do, without fear that someone's going to say 'Oh, you should already know that'. I believe that happens on some forums. Anyone saying that on here would not be welcome to stay.

Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi Friends!
It has been a long time since I was active on CiC...and I miss it! I believe I was initially active on CiC in 2009-2010. Since then I have learned so much about using my DSLR (Canon 40D) and am saving up to buy my first full-frame camera (still exploring options). I love doing portrait sessions, especially families and couples. Not so big on weddings (I've done 4 of them now, all very casual/small) or babies (they're very uncooperative and they smell). ;) The landscape photography I do I typically keep to myself, but I also find it to produce some of the most rewarding images.
I am happy to have "found" CiC again and look forward to learning even more...hopefully even helping others!!
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi I am Ed Sanford
After years of being a film zealot, I am doing digital photography (which is still just photography with a sensor rather than film).. Photography has been a passion for many years, and I consider my self always to be a student. I am currently focusing on landscapes. I have a Canon system consisting of a 5DMKII and a 5DRS with several L lenses. I do my post processing in Lightroom CC with a touch of Photoshop only when absolutely necessary.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi. I am a novice photographer. I am mainly interested in wildlife photography. I am looking forward to learning and am happy to find a site that answers questions and gives advice.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi All,
I'm a fairly novice photographer. I enjoy macro insects and flowers, travel/ street and landscape.
I am originally from the Uk but now live in AUS.
I look forward to getting some of my snaps critiqued.
Rob
