So welcome Robert. It's great to have you here. I hope you enjoy being part of CiC and that you find it useful as well as enjoyable.

Hello I'm a new member to this forum and was interested in the comments on the New Adobe Lightroom 6 Software. It appears that Adobe want subscribers to pay monthly fees for getting download of both Lightroom CC and Photoshop editing Tools rather than buying just the Lightroom 6 software disc. Many amateur photographers find like myself that Lightroom 6 is more than enough for editing there pictures. However I have now read that many of the new features are not included on the stand alone disc. I was interested in the remove haze feature, but this is not apparent on the stand alone disc. I get the impression Adobe just want subscribers rather than giving the upgrades on the disc. Also they keep in under wraps that you can upgrade from Lightroom 5 to Lightroom 6 for just £65.00. Any other comments would be of interest. james Anthony.

Hello James and welcome to the CiC forum. I hope you enjoy being here and that you find the forum both useful and informative.
You'll not be surprised to read that there has been lots and lots of discussion about Adobe's pricing and packaging in the recent past and for every person who thinks it's scandalous, there are is a person who thinks it works well and is the best solution. So you are never going to reach a consensus. But if you wish to pursue the matter, you need to post this question into the Image Post Processing adn Printing section of the forum. People likely to join the discussion with you are more likely to see it if you post it there rather than here.
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hello folks, Dean from North Yorkshire in the UK here. What a refreshing site, full of information, and the forums seem to steer clear of the usual path of descending into personal abuse that other well known photography forums do. Hope I can contribute and of course learn from others. I've been involved in image capture and creation for quite a few years, Weddings, portraits etc, but my passion is landscapes, and in particular coastal images.

The forum aims to complement the tutorials by being a place where we can share knowledge and experience in order to learn from each other.
And we're lucky that we don't seem to attract the people who get into the sort of behaviour that, as you say, is seen on other forums. If someone like that ever does come on here, they're pretty quickly zapped and sent off into the ether to behave obnoxiously somewhere else.

Two and a bit. I spent 5 years there and picked up my Leica and Nikon Gear from Prestons of Harrogate. Don't know if they are still there.

Hello all,
I've been learning (bird mostly) photography for the past 3 months. I love birds as I have been flying Hang Gliders for 43 years and have many close encounters. I want to learn as much as I can and am excited by the challenge.

Hi Gerry,
Welcome to CiC, I am glad to see another native to the frozen tundra....and bird photographer. I am an hour west of you in Albertville, Mn. Looking forward to a few eagle shots here, but stay off the ice.

Hi Gerry,
Have you tried GoPro with your hang gliding yet?
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Randy,
I'm hoping for some good eagle shots soon. I have a few from 6 weeks ago but can't wait to get down to Reeds Landing with the snow.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi John,
I have a Contour which takes pretty good video. I have a few videos on you tube. I have some stills taken from the video that are cool but probably not great still photos. For awhile I flew with a remote camera I'll post a picture or 2 from those some time.

Hello Kevin and welcome to the CiC forum. Thank you for deciding to join up.
Whatever your level of knowledge and experience, I hope you'll find being part of the forum both useful and enjoyable.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Happy New Year!
Hi I just found and joined CIC because I am working on color spectrum measurement sensor, nano spectrometer.
thought it could be useful for camera white balance.

Now all I need to do is find out what a color spectrum measurement sensor, nano spectrometer is!

HELLO
My name is Firmino and I live in Portugal.
I am a beginner in digital photography. To start I bought an old Nikon D90.
Searching for good information that allow me to learn the basis, I found your site. At first sight it looks pretty good.
I am aware that I have a long way in front of me... Technical details of camera shooting and composition are big issues...
Hopefully with your advise, which I appreciate, I will be able to learn how to improve my photos.
