My current camera is a Nikon D50 complete with the kit lens of 18-70mm, and am planning on adding whatever I may need.
I have two items on my immediate wish list: tamron 150-600mm telezoom and the Nikon 200mm macro lens.
I appreciate the information given so freely by the community here, and admit to having been a lurker for some time now!

Hi Mike,
May I wish you a warm welcome to the CiC forums from me.
Now there are two lenses I could use :)

Hi Jörg - welcome to the CiC forums from me.
Could you do me a favour please?
Could you click Settings (right at the top),

I put a couple of links in my reply to Mike above which you may find equally useful for soliciting constructive critique on your pictures.
It is true there is (so) much to learn in photography, we'll be glad to help wherever we can, all you have to do is ask.
Our members do enjoy a good travelogue thread, so I have recently started to tag them.
You might find those linked from the 'travel' tag cloud useful to review for ideas.

Hallo, I`m initiating my participation to that, very informative forum I hope, with match of hope and enthusiasm, I must confess, I hope here I`ll find answers and suggestions in my general questions. I live in Greece and the next days will be very critical on my photography activity, as well as the general activity of all the people who live in my country.
I`m currently leave on a bed (8 years now), due to MS, but I`m preparing to sit on a wheelchair soon. As you can assume photography is one of the important aspects of my life. I am dedicated in Macro photography.
Have a nice posting everyone.
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi Alexander,
Welcome to the CiC forums from me.
I can't begin to imagine what it must be like to have MS and be bed bound for that long, so I hope your transition to wheelchair and increased mobility goes well and we'd be pleased to help with the photography side of things in anyway we can.
So by all means ask any questions - we have an unofficial motto here that 'the only silly question is the one not asked' - just start a new thread in what seems the most appropriate forum for the topic of the query.
What camera are you shooting macro with?
All the best, Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi All,
I'm pretty new to this forum, but have been taking pictures for a few years. Right now, I'm using a Nikon d5100. I'm looking forward to see what I can learn from everyone!

Hi,
Welcome to the CiC forums (from a D5000 owner).
Best way to learn is to jump in with both feet and post an image or two and ask for constructive critique, you may find the first post in this thread useful:

Could you do me a favour please?
Could you click Settings (right at the top),

Have you collected many lenses for the D5100?
What subjects appeal to you? (there's almost certainly someone here doing similar who can assist)
Cheers, Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hello, I'm Dave, living in Leicester in the middle of England. I have been taking photos for a while and currently have a Canon 70D and a Fuji X100. I've used Cambridge in Colour quite a bit for its tutorials, but have decided it would be good to join the forums too.
I like landscape, wildlife and architectural photography. Currently I'm trying to get back into using my SLR more, because it has taken a bit of a back seat since I fell in love with the combination of image quality and portability of the X100. I'm a very keen cyclist, so unfortunately the Canon doesn't get out as often as I'd like!
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi there,
My name is Friso, and I live in The Netherlands.
I am a Canon user. I mostly shoot landscapes. My biggest fault is, that I forget (sometimes) to change the aperture before I shoot.
I have the following equipment:
* Canon 70D
* Canon EF 24.105mm F/4 IS
* Canon 50mm f/1.8
* Canon EFS 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6mm IS STM
* Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8
* Photoshop Elements 14
And I am here to learn and to share knowledge.
See you!
Regards,
Friso
Ps. My English is not as good of the most of you, my Dutch is better :-)

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the CiC forums from me.
I'm a bit of an urban walker and tend not to lug my gear around either, I fear I might have some explaining to do if seen lurking with a telephoto lens - trying to shoot birds of the feathered variety, I hasten to add!
I have a bike, but I'm allergic to hills and wind :D
Out of interest; what focal length lenses do you shoot with for that range of subjects?
All the best, Dave (great name, eh?)

Hi Friso,
I remember having that problem, it is probably a phase we go through - I prescribe more practice.
Your English is perfectly adequate and far better than my (non-existent) Dutch :)
Good introduction - and I see you have reached 7 posts already, I'll no doubt read some of those later this evening, so I'll see you in the forums.
Welcome to the CiC forums from; Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Thanks Dave,
I don't mind hills, within reason, since you sometimes get to whizz down, but detest the wind because it is almost always from in front!
With my 70D I use all the lenses I got for the 450 D: Canon 17-85 and 70-300 (the original kit lenses). I added Sigma 10-20 and 150-500. The latter doesn't get out very often, unless I've had plenty of spinach! Also the Sigma 105mm macro. This and the 70-300 get most use on the 70D. I must say, however, that having used the DLO in DPP for the first time recently, I think I'll be using the 17-85 more. I am very impressed how DLO has improved this lens, working wonders on pretty bad CA in some old shots I recently re-processed.
I got the wide converter for the X100 and it lived on the camera when I was on the Pembrokeshire coast last autumn.
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
I decided to take up the hobby after a 40 year hiatus when I had a Nikormat. Just been doing point and shoot or iPhone pics. I recently bought a Nikon D5500 with 18-55mm and a 55-300mm. After a week, I found it difficult/uncomfortable to grip the D5500. It went back for a D750 with 24-120mm and 105mm. I hope to learn a lot here and meet some nice people.

Is the 105mm you now have the macro lens?
If so, you may find these forum threads helpful: Tag Cloud: macro photography

So, what are you shooting with?
Plus what do you enjoy shooting most?
Perhaps even; what would you like to start shooting?
Whatever it is, I'm sure we can help, you might be amazed at the range of experience spread across the globe we can call upon.

Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hello I am a new member and have tried a couple of times to negotiate the Welcome Thread so am not sure if I
am recording in the correct place.
I presently have a Canon EOS 1100D and have attended a number of Photographic Workshops. The only cameras I ever used prior to this were Olympus and still have my first digital the mju series which takes very good photos. Attempted to take indoor photos at wedding last Saturday and most of them were blurred so I was going to put my camera up on ebay!
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi, I have a passion for photography and spend far too much time on it! I am presently in the process of learning more about the nuances of exposure and am hoping to gain experience shooting with the Lensbaby. I am being leant one for a week and so am really looking forward to experimenting with it with a view to perhaps buying and really exploring that genre. Looking forward to participating here.
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hello, My name is Terry, Tez for short and I am 'hoping' to introduce myself to the Forum. I live in the West Midlands and have been into photography for a few years now. I have just bought a Nikon D7100 which I am enjoying very much but it's a complex bit of kit! I have on the camera an 18 140 mm lens and also a 55 300mm Nikon lens.
I hope to learn from the forum and get into conversations with the members and look forward to meeting them here.
I took this photograph at Scarborough in the Dalby forest last year.

Hi Lena,
Well, I think it is a bit soon to sell the camera, although it depends whether you have the desire to learn how to use it - if you do, we can certainly help you. There are many tutorials here on the basics and beyond those, if you start a new thread and post an example or two, we can advise why they turned out so disappointing and what to do 'next time' to avoid that. In fact I'd strongly urge you to dive in, show us a picture or two and let us help.
You may find this thread helpful with that:

Hi Jane,
Welcome to the CiC forums from me.
That's two disparate topics there; exposure and Lensbaby, although, the latter being (as I understand) manual lenses means you'll need to shoot in Manual exposure mode, which it may be wise to practice with your standard lens if you have only shot one of the automatic modes previously (e.g. A/Av, S/Tv, P or Auto).
Do feel free to start a thread and ask any questions you may have, it might be useful to include an example photo or two.
Cheers, Dave
