Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi all, even though I joined the group almost 6 years ago, several events on my life (finishing my MBA and most important the birth of my 3 children) kept me very busy and away from my hobby. Hi to all the old member as Dave and Donald, Christ, etc. and hello to all the "newer" ones. Greetings from Switzerland. Daniel

Great to have you back, Daniel. I hope you'll find the forum as helpful and useful as it was when other 'stuff' took over your life.

Welcome back from me too Daniel, I look forward to seeing some shots and reading from you in the forums at large.

Hi everyone! I primarily shoot equestrian events in central Texas -- everything from dressage to polo and rodeo. Happy to have joined the group.
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi Dave, and welcome on board. Looking forward to seeing some of your equestrian images. This is a friendly place for learning and sharing - see you in the forums, I hope.
Dave (there a lot of Daves around here!)
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
I'm John from Sarnia Ontario Canada, taking pictures for about 4 years. Due to a bum shoulder and hip I use an Olympus EM-5. After coming across this website I started shooting mostly in RAW and post processing in Corel. I included one of my favorite pictures from Newfoundland.
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi John, and a warm welcome to CiC - I'm very pleased that you have decided to join us.
I changed over from dslr to micro 4/3 (Panasonic, in my case) over the past couple of years, and I miss nothing except the weight!
It sounds as if you tried to attach a picture of Newfoundland but it does seem to have come through. If you are having trouble, there are some guidelines here: https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread3571.htm
It would also be good if you added your name and location to your profile, so that it shows every time you post.
All the best, and look forward to seeing you around,
Dave

Hello Jennifer, and a warm welcome to our community. One of the nice things about CiC is that we have members from all over the world, and that brings a lot of interesting pictures and ideas.
If you were talking about sharing photos in the forums, there is some help here: https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread3571.htm
Just jump into the forums, we are a friendly and constructive crowd, and we are all about sharing and learning. Remember - the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
Look forward to seeing and hearing more from you,
Dave

Hello!
I am Michala, living in Ohio, USA. I'm slightly more than a beginner, but worlds away from an expert photographer. I love shooting macros of flowers and insects. I'd like to start shooting some night cityscapes, lightning, etc. And really anything that catches my eye. I love showing tiny details that people would never notice.
I'm excited to keep learning!
Thank You!
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
My name is Tayyeb and currently living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I have Nikon D5200 with kit lens 18 to 55 mm and nothing else. So this is all my gear and I want to learn and improve my photography using this. My basic purpose is to get better pictures of my family indoors and outdoors.
I am glad to have found a forum like this and the tutorials are very informative and professionally done.
Regards

Thank You!
And that bit about being excited to keep learning is what it's all about. Hold on to that and you will always be going in the right direction. Whether you end up and 'expert', who knows. Very few people are. But there are lots of us who are real enthusiasts ... and that's what we want to encourage in others.
So, it's great to have you here, Michala.
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hello Tayyeb and welcome to the CiC forum. It's a pleasure to have you here.
Please do not think that because you have a 5200 with a kit lens that you are somehow disadvantaged when it comes to making great pictures. The important thin g is to learn how to use that combination until you can do so without conscious thought. It is good set-up for learning. Only once you are confident that you have achieved all you can with that gear and you wish to do other things - for example, macro photography, or wildlife photography - need you think about adding to your list of equipment.
Unfortunately, too many people starting out in photography think that if they get more or 'better' equipment then they will be better photographers. That is just not true. It is the person using the equipment that makes great images, not the equipment.
I hope you enjoy being a member of this forum and please do post some of your pictures and invite colleagues to comment and gove advice on how they might be improved.

Hi Dawn:
So good to learn of another photographer from County Down! While I now split my time between Canada and New Zealand, I have great memories of growing up there and envy your proximity to some great scenic, historic and social photo opportunities. I hope we will get to see your images in the future! :)

Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi joined as you are a UK group and I have lived in New Zealand for the past 9 and half years. I need some help with a couple of old tripods. I cant get any information on them and would like to know if anyone can tell me the load capacity for them. They are both Cobra tripods a Cobra Profile tripod and a Cobra Eclipse 21 monopod. Only just ventured into digital SLR world with the purchase of a Nikon D5300. I hope I can learn a lot from this site.
