New member posts: April 2014 to June 2020

Hi Everyone,

My name is Iris. I'm originally from Russia, but moved to Israel recently. I'm a big fan of photography but it's always been just a hobby, something aside of a dull daily job in the IT department of the investment bank. I decided to change this a bit. So I quit my daily job, moved to another country, found a part-time freelance job and now have plenty time to master my skills! Didn't yet decide what type of photography I want to master. I'm terrified of wedding photos, family photo sessions and portraits - I'm an introvert. I like reportage, crazy about picturing animals and wild life.

Happy to be here and hoping to learn a lot from you guys!

Hi Iris, and a warm welcome to CIC. Delighted that you have joined up. That's a brave step to move from Russia to Israel, with a new language to learn. Are you in Ulpan, or something similar? There are lots of wildlife and nature photographers here (I'm one of them!) so you find many people to share your enthusiasm with.

Hi just thought I would add a quick introduction as a new member to the forums. I am a teacher of all things media and have a passion for wildlife photography. Living in Yorkshire I have a wide variety of habitats and species to go at each one giving a different challenge. My most successful photo is the Hipster Horse (my avatar) which was published worldwide in all forms of social media.

Hi everybody,

I bought a Nikon d3300 3 months ago and have become absolutely obsessed with photography. I have been reading the articles on the website (which I think are great!) which eventually have lead me to this wonderful forum. I'm looking forward to meeting photographers who can give me guidance to improve my photography.

Hello, I joined to teach myself about digital photography and to help me decide what digital camera to take to Africa next Spring for a safari. So many things to consider (don't want to change lenses in the field, may not have access to electricity each day, SLR?, APS-C?, buy used equipment?). Too many questions, but I have time to learn.

Hello and welcome. I'm not the best photographer in the world, but I have done lots of safaris, and I'd be happy to help out where I can. Digital photography is a big subject (of course!) and the most important thing will be to be familiar with your camera.

Can you also tell us little more about your trip - location, duration, accommodation that sort of thing. The background helps when we get into specifics.

Hi!
My name is Rafael Lepra, I live in Toronto and I like particularly macros, landscapes and wildlife. I am an enthusiastic amateur, but I have a lot to learn. Since last Christmas, by I have been taking a lot of pictures in some events of the company I work in, I have found that taking pictures with flash it is more challenging than expected, till then I mostly use the flash as fill in in some complicated lighting situations, but to achieve good balanced pictures in big rooms has being more difficult than I ever expected, even using the ETTL II of my Canon 70D. Well enough of boring everybody with my chat :-)

Hi, I am Janelle from Vancouver, Canada. I have always had a love for photography but only just recently started taking it more seriously and got myself a new Canon Rebel T5 to learn on and to improve my photography beyond auto. My favorite types of pictures to take and want to learn to improve upon are: portraits, macro, nature and wildlife.
