Hi. I am Gerrit van Pletzen, and I am a magistrate in Windhoek, Namibia. I use a Canon 6D with the following lenses : 17-40mm f4 L series, 24-70mm f2.8 L series and 70-200mm f2.8 L series.As a permanent companion I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC - LX5, which I love because of the small size, and super sharp f2 Leica lens. I hope to learn a lot from this forum, and to make lots of friends here.

Have been doing photography for a long time, and generally use Nikon gear and I look forward to reading the forums.

Hi - I'm new here... Just stumbled into the site looking for an explanation of downsampling for lower noise - and found a great several, thank you very much! I am Ashiq, an Indian living in Muscat, Oman. A software engineer by profession. Photography is my hobby for past few years. I was reading a lot online to learn about this art. Nice to find this site which seems to involve itself in quite a variety of photo topics; enjoying the tutorials? Looking forward to some "new tricks" as this old dog gets more adventurous in modern digital capture, though still shooting film on somewhat regular basis. Somewhat intimidated already by the display of so many great images from the members but motivated as well!
Heading off for a vacation and will see what I may be able to post on my return.

Hi Ashiq, delighted that you have decided to join us. I think you are quite right about learning by interacting, and sharing and learning from each other is what CiC is all about. You have quite a range of images in your album - what would you say is your favourite subject?

It would be good if you could add Muscat and Ashiq as your name and location in your profile, so that they will appear alongside all your posts. We all use first names here, and it is nice to know where everyone is in the world.

Hi John, there are quite a few old dogs here, trying to learn new tricks :). Don't be intimidated, there are some great photographers here, and some less expert ones, too (one of them is typing this). Just jump into the forums and get going. Where are you headed in Western VA? Shenandoah or roundabouts?

Could you please add your name and location to your profile, so that we know who and where you are when you post. As well as being nice to know the location, it can be very helpful if advice is being sought.
