Even nearer than you think, I'm actually in Gawsworth. Just been photographing, well trying to, the Tour of Britain since it came past a couple of hundred yards from where I live.
I was a member of Macclesfield Camera Club for a couple of years, but decided not to rejoin this year - not that there's anything wrong with the Club. Drop me a pm when you are back, and I'll say a bit more.
Might be a few weeks though - we are off to Oz for three weeks on the 25th of next month. Have a great trip.
Dave

Hi,
My name is Gaurav. I am from India. I am avid cyclist, long distance runner and into adventure sports and totally new to photography. Totally thrilled to be on CiC and eager to learn from experienced members like you. I would like to take better clicks and make some meaning out of them when I am on the road.
Best regards,
Gaurav

Hi all, Photography has always been my hobby, now I am trying to venture into horse event photography and maybe some pet photography. I work full time and am fitting this in on the weekends and am going through a huge learning curve and would love some help and assistance with my photography and editing. I have a Nikon D3100 (saving for a D500 I hope) with 2 kit lenses and have recently got a 70-200mm F2.8 lens which I love. Cheers from Australia

Hi Sonny, and a warm welcome to our community. Pleased to see that you have jumped right into the mini comps. Looks like a nice sharp image, but if I may make a comment, it's a bit small. I suggest posting at around 1200 pixels on the long side will enable people to get a better view - it's a pretty good compromise between viewability and speed of uploading and viewing.
Any way, when you would like some assistance, just post in one of the main forums and ask for "C&C", and if possible say what you were trying to achieve and what you think needs improving.
Look forward to seeing more from you,
Dave
P.S. I'm enjoying looking at photographs from OZ, because we are off there on holiday at the end of October!
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
I'M from l'Assomption, Québec, Canada. I've started photography two years ago, when I retired. Since then i've read a lot, shot a lot, but sometimes you need honest critics who don't know you. So I thaught this would be a good idea to join this forum
I'M posting this shot, because i was disappointed from the rating it got from our club members. It was posted in the B&W category.
C&C are welcome because i'd like to know what I could have done to make it better.
Have a nice day.

Welcome to CiC, ygagne1008. The image isn't showing up. A preferred name to be called and general location is desireable for the casual atmosphere here.

Looking forward to seeing some photos, Sonny. Don't forget to post EXIF data along with photos if you want good feedback and suggestions.
Regarding your comment that you're saving up for a D500, I'll offer the following. I'm a Nikon user who shoots wildlife, canine sports, and some canine portraiture(but not studio). I've also shot most of the Nikon line, a lot. You can both save yourself some money and reach your goal of upgrading sooner if you consider going to a D7200 rather than the 500. I currently shoot them both. The 7200 is an excellent camera and currently a great value. For less than half the cost you get 6fps, a (nominally)20 frame buffer, excellent focus performance, and many of the same customizable features as the pro cameras. For the subject matter you indicated you're shooting, higher fps, larger buffer, and faster focus are not really much benefit. Just a thought.

Hi, my name is Dave, I live in Oxfordshire in the UK and have recently come across this interesting looking forum via Marc Levoy's digital photography lectures. Although I've had many interests in life, photography as been the most enduring and I'm still at it after over four decades. I'm a former electronics and software engineer with a bias toward graphics and digital imaging although my most recent job was that of technical writer and instructor for a Canon based photography magazine. I now run a series of photographic one-day workshops from Oxfordshire - to find out more, visit www.image-matters.biz. I look forward to reading all those interesting threads from other members....
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hello Everybody,
My name is Nihal and some years ago I was a member of the Royal Photografics Society and gave up because I couldn't attend any events in UK. But for the last 30 years I am taking photos mainly Landscape and Nature photographs. Found this forum is helpful because I live in Japan it is difficult to find anything in English.
I have a Zensa Bronica 6x7 and recently bought EOS 8000D (760D) and hope to buy Sigma 150-600mm lens near future.
In December try to go to Sri Lanka for a holiday to do some photography.
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
I have been photographing for only a year and last year bought myself a Fujifilm Mirrorless X-E2 and although this is my first real good camera (apart from a pocket camera (Canon)) which took fairly good pics, this X-E2 is in a completely different class. It has a myriad of excellent features and takes excellent pics, It is also the envy of people in my photography class.
