hi
Hi Folks.
My name is John and live in South Wales. Been involved with photography one or another for more than 20 years as a hobby. Now retired so more time to take it seriously so bought myself some better gear etc. My main focus has been on landscapes and nature but looking to expand horizons.
Hello Dipak Moses and a warm welcome to Cambridge in Colour. I think that you are the first member from Uganda (I don't recall seeing another) so a special welcome.Hi, I am Dipak Moses, living in Uganda. i am a student at livingstone international university in Uganda, Mbale
It sounds as though you have to work hard to get your pictures using borrowed cameras, and with no one in your family to help. I saw your comment about "rule of thirds" so you must have been studying the subject. I hope we do see some pictures from you before long.
On a personal note, I have only visited Uganda for a short time, but my wife lived and taught there for a year. She has a deep love of your country.
Best regards,
Dave

Mark - Welcome to the CiC Forum. Thank you for 'signing up'. I hope you enjoy being involved. And I hope you did manage to sell the coins. I hope that being part of CiC helps you learn and develop your photographic skills.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Hi there everyone, I’m Riccardo and I’m writing from Italy. I’ve always wanted to shoot photos and, since I recently bought me a decent camera, I decided to start studying digital photography to improve my photos and find my style. I love portrait photography and currently my favorite photographer is Herb Ritts. I’ve already started studying your tutorials, and I hope I’ll find some help if I don’t understand anything.
Hello Riccardo. Welcome to the CiC forum. I hope that you do find it a useful addition to the tutorials that are on the site.

Hello!
I'm Patrick, I'm here to learn as much about photography as I can. I have a Canon EOS 450D, the kit lens and a Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM lens too.
Hello Patrick, and welcome on board. Learning from each other is what CiC is all about, so you are in the right place.I'm Patrick, I'm here to learn as much about photography as I can. I have a Canon EOS 450D, the kit lens and a Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM lens too.
Is there any particular area of photography that interests you?
It would be good if you could edit your profile as Donald suggests in the post just before yours.
Look forward to hearing more from you,
Dave
Hiya,
I am Janet, I stumbled on this page when i was searching for what "Depth of Field" really meant. The more i take shots of pictures , the more i discover something new to learn about. Am still exploring the photography world , i observed that i love the Portrait type of photography, still exploring though!
Kind Regards!!!!
Welcome to CiC Janet. I'm sure you'll find a lot of helpful information on this site; we have a lot of extremely competent photographers who are more than happy to help out others, regardless of how long they have been taking pictures.
While you have given us your real name in this post, that won't necessarily be the case in subsequent ones. Can you please go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Hi there,
Strictly amateur, here.
I'm starting out, after decades of low-level fun with a throwaway/tescos cheapo etc etc, now trying to decide which cheap-ish bridge camera to start with.
Humble ambition - to be able to take pictures friends and family will say "hey that's a nice picture" about.
I enjoy taking pictures, I enjoy watching people, visiting places, noticing things. I plan to take my camera on occasional holidays, much more frequent bird watching and walking.
Went to a "beginners photography" class a few years ago with my point and shoot (hmm, nobody warned me) and got turned off when the guy spent all his time with the Canon-toting members.
This is how much of a beginner I am!
But looking forward to learning.
Hi Susan, glad you decided to join up.Strictly amateur, here
CiC is all about sharing and learning, and you'll find lots of experienced photographers who will be more than happy to help you on your way. We have a rule that there are no dumb questions here (there may be the od dumb answer, btu that will get corrected pretty quickly).
There are also lots of excellent bridge cameras around at the moment, so I'm sure you will find something within your budget that is able to take great shots. Whether it does or not of course is rather dependent on what is behind the lens
Don't be afraid to post your pictures in one of the forums (Nature..., People...) and ask for comments - we are a pretty constructive lot.
Cheers,
Dave
(edit) Should have mentioned - be sure to take a look at the tutorials here, reckoned some of the best on the net
Thanks for the welcome

It won't take you long to figure out that the person operating the camera is far more important to the final result that the type of equipment that is being used. I have lots of excellent images taken from a simple point & shoot right through to pro-level cameras and lenses. The best camera is always the one that you have with you at the time!

Greetings from Romania!
I am Mugur and I'm living in Bucharest. Being a noob in photography, few weeks ago I've started to look for tutorials so I was pleased to find this great forum. Maybe there are others, maybe better than CiC, I dunno, but honestly this is that forum I have chosen to register.
Photography is just a hobby for me and I must struggle to find time for practice. For a while I will be here as a silent reader and, maybe, at a time, become a prolific poster (not spammer).
Till then, congrats for this lovely community and good light to everyone!
Mugur
Hello Mugur,
Look no further - this forum is the best, and I'm delighted you have decided to register.
I look forward to hearing more from you when you feel ready. Don't be concerned about posting, as I hope you have already read, this is a friendly and supportive place to discuss whatever you want to.
Best regards,
Dave
