My name is Javed (from Mauritius). I am new to this website; new to photography generally. ... I have come across this website a few weeks ago and I find it extremely useful to feed my passion for the subject. It has helped me to learn many things about photography.

Yep, there is a lot to learn, Jeannette, but don't try to do it all at once. Take it one step at a time, and let folks on here help you, which they will be willing to do.

Lol! Well, Dad used to build and race dragsters, so the love of a vehicle with muscle is just in the dna. A vehicle that won't burn rubber gives me that wings clipped, stuffed in a box on a very short chain feeling! Thanks for the welcome.

Hi from Mexico City. I am a self-taught photographer, have been taking lots of pictures for more than 35 years now (mainly during trips, both within and outside the country) with some fine results, and also like to experiment so as to come up with some rather unusual pictures. However, there are a number of technicalities I still need to learn and love to hear what other members have to say. Hi, I'm Hazel and I live in Barnstaple, North Devon. I first picked up a camera with intent to learn how to "do it right" about 2 years ago, and am making slow but visible progress. I took a "beginners course" which taught me how to switch the camera on, which way was up, what the basic modes do and also showed me how to look at things differently. I have a Canon EOS 700D which I am still trying to fathom out (I can find the basic controls), and a little Lumix TZ60 which is small enough to carry everywhere with me and rarely lets me down, although I'm sure I frequently let it down. My main photographic interests are macro, animals, flowers, and of course I wouldn't dare to leave out my young grandson from the list! My husband is planning a retirement trip in a few years, so I also want to learn how to take good photos of landscapes and local interests. I suppose I just want to learn how to photograph everything better.

I have been a member for some time but have not posted. I live in Grants Pass, Oregon, USA with my poodle, Sammy. I am a dedicated photographer always striving to improve my technique. I shoot with Canon cameras with RAW files and edit in LRCC and PSCC. I also use Perfect Photo Suite from ON1. My favorite things to shoot are landscapes and flowers. I have followed Cambridge in Color for years but never actually participated.

Well, Hazel, I hope your arrival here in the forum will prove to be a big help is achieving that goal.

This forum is made up of lots of people who were once in exactly the same place as you are now in terms of knowledge and experience. And many of them on here are only too willing to share what they now know in order to help other people learn. All you have to do is ask the questions.

Remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question. Or the only stupid question is that one that you don't ask.

I have been taking photos, mostly nature for few months now. I learned a little photography through some online videos. Though photography for me started as a hobby, it gave me a new perception towards certain things in life that I would have normally missed or would have viewed it differently. I'm Peter. I've been a serious photographer for more than twenty years having started off working with film and doing my own processing in the darkroom I still have a little yen for those days. I used to shoot on medium format and 35 mm but now use dSLRs and a compact. Oh, and I have had some success with an iPad. My taste are eclectic so you will see me shoot portraits, animals, landscape, sport and abstract and much more. Although I shoot in colour, naturally my love is black and white.
