Hi, my name is Pauline and I have been taking photos for many years, but more seriously since I retired 3 years ago (I worked as an ecologist). Most of my photos are of wildlife and skies, macro, black and white, colour and infrared. My camera is a Canon 5D Mk III and I use a converted Canon 400D for infrared.

I am learning all the time and look forward to learning even more.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

CONDUCT - The general emphasis here is on support and learning. To do that, we often give detailed criticism on shots, where people have asked for it. We always try to do that in a fair, polite, and balanced manner. We also have a lot of fun on here, making humorous comments with one another. But again, it's nearly always done in a friendly manner, softened with the use of smilies.

If you follow the above guidelines you won't go far wrong. We rarely have a problem with things that are said on-line. However, the Admin/Mod group monitor all activity on this site, and any inappropriate comment will be removed or edited. We urge all new members to read the Code of Conduct FAQ.

Hello. My name is Harrison, and I am very glad to join such a fine group of fellow photographers. I have been shadow walking through the site for awhile, and really like what I have seen. Hope to be a good member here. I am relatively new to the realm of digital photography, having picked up a Nikon D5100 less than a year ago. It came with the standard 18-55 & 55-200mm. lenses and also picked up a Nikon 35mm. prime lens for it's clarity. They seem to be ok for starting out with digital. Will post some images as soon as I figure out how.

I am 90 years old and have been interested in photography since my 20s.I have used various Voigtlander cameras ending with a Vitomatic, followed by a Pentax MX. Then I took up Digital starting with a Canon G2 and ending with a Panasonic Lumix G2 with the excellent 24-75mm f2.8 lens.
I still have my Pentax lenses and have used a Fotodiox adaptor to attach either the Pentax 50mm f 1.7 prime or the Tamrom 90 mm f 2.5 macro portrait to the Panasonic. I like to use the macro facility but otherwise do not specialise. I still have a lot to earn.

HI, I'm Bonnie in Fresno, California. I've played around with photography for a long long time, but am now trying out a mirrorless camera (Fujifilm X-T1)and using PS CC. I'm at the brink of learning Lightroom, but the most important is really learning my camera better and just getting out and using it. I enjoy shooting landscapes and streetscapes, in both BW and color, and if I get really comfortable, people. I'm looking forward to the posts and forums and learning!

Hello All,
my name is Irene I've always had an interest in photography my Dad was a keen (very) amateur but it was more point and shoot and pretty pictures for me. I received my first dSLR for my birthday in 2000 and have been gradually improving (I hope) since. It took me about a year to get off the auto button and I've never looked back! I traded up to an EOS70D at the end of last year and went back to learning.
I love to photograph landscapes,wildlife and abstracts but work and life limits my photo time unfortunately and like everyone else I guess I'd love more camera time. I live in Scotland so it's not like I don't have loads of great locations.
Anyway I've finally decided it's time to get some feedback I've loved the tutorials for a couple of years,so hello to all!!

Hello, Irene. I'm just a few miles up the road from you (you might want to add 'Scotland' to your address that shows up alongside your posts, as, strangely, some folk might not know where Dunfermline is).

Hi I'm Judy and I live in London Ontario Canada. Four summers ago I bought a new point & shoot in order to get better photos of my grandchildren and pets and photography became an addiction! I now shoot with a Nikon d3200 and a Nikon d5200. I started out with nature photography but I now do nature, landscapes, portraits (I specialize in newborns) and I love travel photography.
