Hi everybody
I'm Sergio from Portugal, somewhere inside its perimeter. Amongst other hobbies that i have, taking fotos is one. I'm beginning to learn to take pictures in a more serious way. My machine is an Olympus SP100-EE. I know that is not a big machine but it's my machine, sorry..
I'll hope to learn much more here with you all.
Hi: I just joined the forum. I am new to photography and am currently in a class to learn to use my camera. I have been trying to get out there and shoot some interesting subject matter and am particularly interested in wildlife and horses. Look forward to reading posts here and getting feedback on my photos.
Hello Sergio, and welcome to CiC.I'm Sergio from Portugal
Well done by getting straight into the competitions - it always nice when a new member has the confidence to do that. There is absolutely no need to apologise for your camera - the members here shoot with all kinds of cameras, and your Olympus can take fine pictures. Its' what you do with it that matters!
The really important thing, though, is that you want to learn, because sharing and learning is what we are all about. I hope you enjoy being a member, and I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you.
Best regards, Dave
Hi Debra, and welcome.Hi: I just joined the forum.
For a beginner, I think your barrel racing pictures are very impressive - in fact most of us would be glad to have taken them!
I can see that you've had a lot of what looks to me like good feedback already, which I hope is proving useful. As you can see, we are a very polite and constructive bunch here.
Look forward to seeing and hearing more around the forums,
Best regards, Dave

Hi, my name is Alda and I'm from Indonesia. I teach English daily and do photography when not teaching, My camera is Fuji Finepix HS35 and sometimes I use LG cellphone camera. It feels good to find a forum where I can learn more about photography. Below is a sample of my work. I love taking pictures of everything but my favorite is always nature and landscapes.
Hello Alda, and a very warm welcome to CiC. I am very pleased that you have decided to join us.
If you want to learn more about photography then you have come to teh right place, because learning from each other is what we are all about. I can't see your sample! Here are some hints on how to post images HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?
If you need any further help, please ask. It would also be good if you updated your profile to show "Indonesia" as your location - it's nice o know where everyone is in the world.
Best wishes, Dave
Hi everyone!
My name is Ana, and I’m from Portugal.
I’m joining this forum hoping to learn a lot, see different opinions and work of other people and, hopefully, hear some constructive critics about my work.
About my work: I think I’m still experimenting things, but I absolutely love shooting concerts! Music photography is, with no doubt, a passion. All the emotion musicians put into stage, is just amazing to watch and a awesome challenge to capture.
If you wanna check out my website I would really appreciate that (:
Hi Everyone, I'm from Orlando Fl. Great to be part of this magnificent forum.
Carlos
Hi Ana, and a warm welcome from me to CiC. If you want to learn, see and share, then you have come to the right place. If you post images for C&C, I can promise that you will get feedback, and it will be constructive. I enjoyed looking at your music images on your web site. They look good to me, but it's not my genre and I am no expert. If you do want feedback, the best way is to post an image in one of the main forums, and if possible say what kind of feedback you are looking for. Replies such as "great image" may be nice, but not really helpful. My name is Ana, and I’m from Portugal.
One other thing, could you add "Portugal" or even your town to your profile. As well as it being nice to know where everyone is from, it can also be helpful when offering advice.
Look forward to seeing you around,
Dave
Hi Carlos, welcome on board,a d I look forward to seeing some pictures soon. What kind of subjects do you like to shoot?Hi Everyone, I'm from Orlando Fl. Great to be part of this magnificent forum.

Hi, My name is Kelly. I live in Derby with my husband Stu and our 2 boys Ben and Charlie. I am very new to photography. Only really used a simple point and click camera. But I've always wanted to pursue a career/hobby in photography. I recently went to a friends wedding and after seeing her photos I was simply blown away. It's re-lit a spark in me to want to find out more about cameras and taking that "perfect" photo.
Although weddings is not where I'm keen to go... It's photographing children and babies, for me it's all about capturing that special moment, that cheeky smile, that sleeping moment caught forever.
So if anyone has any advise on cameras, technique, hints and tips, please feel free to get in touch.
Hi Kelly and welcome - pleased you've decided to join up. Since you are very new to photography, if you haven't already I recommend you click on "tutorials" near the top of the screen and read those. They will give you a good grasp of the basics (and more, if you wish).
Which camera? is a huge topic. There are lots of options from "professional" dslr's to "bridge" cameras, with lots of options in between, and they are all capable of taking excellent photos in the right conditions.
I suggest you re-post a question in the Cameras and Equipment forum where more people will read it, but first ask yourself and tell us
- your budget
- your intended subject(s)
- where you see your photography going (e.g. a tool to record a growing family, the start of a serious hobby, starting a career)
That will help narrow down some answers. You'll find it's all about compromise - we all have a different idea of the perfect camera, and nobody makes any of them!
Good luck on the journey,
Dave
Hello from Upstate NY. Glad to be onboard a great website. Have learned tons already. What threads are best to see what members used for pics regarding camera, lens, settings, post pro, etc? I am now with 70D and having a blast, but when I can view others photos with information attached it helps alot. Thanks, Dan
Hi Dan - pleased you've decided to join us.
I hope I'm not saying things you already know well, but every digital photo when it's taken contains an EXIF: data separate from the image that contains information on all the camera settings used, and a great deal else. Some picture hosting sites strip it out, but most of the images posted here in the two main forums should contain it. You'll need a plugin for your browser to be able to see it. If you have trouble finding one, let us know which browser and someone will help. If you want to know other stuff - just ask in the thread of the image.
Would you mind adding your name and location to your profile so it appears alongside every post so that we all know who everyone is.
Thanks,
Dave
Hi everyone,
I made my first post yesterday and got a nice warm welcome. I came across this forum whilst browsing for tutorials, there are some amazing photos on here! I look forward to seeing more.
I'm mainly interested in bird and wildlife photography, but can appreciate any good picture.
I look forward to posting more.
Thanks
Gibbo
Hi Gibbo,
Yes, I can see you've made yourself at home already - great picture of a grebe. Inspired me to head for our local lake where there is usually a pair of grebes, but they haven't shown this year! There are quite a few wildlife and birdlife enthusiasts here (I'm one of them!), and I look forward to seeing more or your pictures.
Could you add "Gibbo", or whatever you want us to call you, as your "real name" in your profile.
Cheers,
Dave
