Hello Janelle, and a warm welcome to our community. We have members who are interested in all kinds of photography, so you should feel at home, and as you have probably realised we are all about learning and sharing. I hope you are enjoying your new camera, and I also hope you have read the tutorials on the site to help you along!Hi, I am Janelle from Vancouver, Canada.
Cute portrait, too

Hi Dave. Thanks for the invitation.
Been a photographer for most of my professional life as I can't seem to learn to do anything else. Started working to a local Los Angeles newspaper. Lucky enough to get hired by Walt Disney Imagineering and ran the photo dept there for 16+ years. Transitioned from film to digital in the early 90's. Worked with a team to design, install and operate the digital imaging lab at the new location of the JP Getty Museum. Now director of quality for an on line photo restoration firm.
Look forward to using your site and getting involved as I can.
Hi,
Welcome to the CiC forums from me, regardless whether I was the 'Dave' you were addressing, or the other Dave that has replied many times here more recently than I.
As you can see, we're a friendly bunch and prefer to use first names - so could you do me a favour please?
Could you click Settings (right at the top),
then Edit Profile (on left)
and put your first name in the Real Name field
and where you are now (roughly) in the Location field,
then click the Save Changes button below and to right,
this helps everyone give you more personal and relevant answers - thanks in advance.
Do you shoot much as a hobby these days?
All the best, Dave
Hello Dave,
Thank you so much. I am from Mumbai.
Warm Regards,
Anupama
Hello Jerry,
Thank you so much for your advice. Yes, I need to get out my camera more often. I need to constantly remember this, 'Look until you see'.
Warm Regards,
Anupama
Hellow CiC,
My name is David Long, I am from and live in Tennessee. I am married with three children (8 years, 7 years, and 9 months old). I have been interested in photography sense I was around 15 or 16, but didn't have the mean or motivation to pursue it in any depth. However, just this past year I decided to buckle down and purchased the Sony a6000 which came with the standard 16-50mm and 55-210mm Lenses. I then purchased the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS. I have sense been snapping away, mostly macro shots. I enjoy city and people photography, however, as I live in rural country I don't get the opportunity to shoot people much. I post most of my work on EyeEm, and have thus far built a substantial following (check it out here https://www.eyeem.com/u/dlongphotography). I am looking forward to learning how to tweak my camera to get the most out of it. The following is an example of one of my resent shots. I almost always shoot RAW and self process.

Welcome David and Ivanka.
Although getting to Tennessee is fairly easy, I am curious how Ivanka got to China from Bulgaria.
Hi all. My name is Geraldine and I am a very amateur photographer. I enjoy walking, cycling, reading and art. I discovered this site while searching for information on lenses, focus and basic information. I look forward to learning from the group. The idea of a photo a week is great (though I am rather late in discovering it). Next year!!

There are many that should help and if you have remaining questions, just ask - we don't bite
What are you shooting with?
Why not have a go anyway, we're only just half way through. The idea of a photo a week is great (though I am rather late in discovering it). Next year!!

Hi, my name's David, and I live in Tokyo, Japan. I am on the team of a Japan guide website, which is the main reason I started taking photos, but photography has taken on a life of its own for me, and I'm now getting more into it as an interest. I recently got a Fujifilm X70 which I am very much enjoying using. Check me out on Flickr.
Hi David, and a warm welcome. Very pleased you have decided to sign up. We don't have many members living in Japan (in fact, off hand, I can't think of another), so it would be great to see some images of the country. I had a quick look at your Flickr page - it looks as though people are your main interest - I assume they were mostly taken in and around Tokyo?Hi, my name's David, and I live in Tokyo, Japan
Look forward to seeing you around,
Dave
I live in the nation of Louisiana (to the east of Texas). I'm retired from both the US Air Force and teaching computer science at the college level. Over the years I've learned that there seems to be more that I don't know than do know. This bring me to my question.

MOD COMMENT: Thread moved to its own thread in more appropriate forum to attract replies than here.

ccphoto - just a retired old toot piddling around. I shoot a Nikon D810 with the 200-500mm, a Tokina 17-35, a nifty 50, and an old style 35-70 Nikkor. I shoot mostly wildlife though on occasion will toss in some landscapes and portraits.

Nice to meet you. We are all learning and sharing here, in fact that's what CiC is all about, so if you've got any pictures you'd like feedback on, just post away. Same if you have any questions - the only dumb ones are the ones that don't get asked. We are a friendly and supportive bunch.
