My name is Donna and I'm a beginner photographer just having taken up the hobby at the ripe old age of 54. I technically live in Seoul, Korea though home is the VA/NC area of the United States east coast. I am an international teacher having taught in the UAE, Jordan China and now South Korea in the last 6 years. My travel opportunities are what motivated me to pic up a camera because there were just too many wonderful things to see in this world that I wanted to remember. I bought my first DSLR for myself for my 50th birthday just before a trip to Israel but spent 4 years shooting on auto. This years birthday resolution was to venture out of auto. I'm looking forward to learning from the community.

Hello all at CiC,
My name is John and I hail from North Wales,UK. I wanted to join CiC for a while and somehow didn't seem to have the time, but I have recently reduced some of my other committments and joined up hoping to contribute where I can. I have been back in Digital Photography since 2008 having taken a "sabatical" during the "transition years" and now spend most of my hobby time taking or editing images or helping out running a Camera Club ! I enjoy all sorts of photography especially Nat. history, love learning new aspects of photography and recently have been working with a local group of Togs on improving our Portraiture skills. I look forward to playing a positive role in the CiC community.

Nelson here. I live in Seattle and enjoy hiking, mountain bike riding and a bit of high performance driving.
I've always had point and shoots, and I have a couple Gopros, but I just stepped up to a Nikon D750 with the 24-120 lens. I'm looking forward to becoming a "real" photographer, and eager to learn from everyone!

Hi, I'm Heather. I have dabbled in photography for quite a few years, but have only recently had the time to pursue it more seriously. I am now shooting with a Nikon D500, and am adding to my gear as my interests broaden. My main areas of interest in photography are nature (wildlife, landscapes, macro), adventure sports (mountain biking, downhill skiing, skeleton), and travel. I look forward to learning much more from the CiC tutorials and the posts of more experienced CiC members.

Hi . I'm guerouig from Algeria. I was fairly active in photography before the digital era. Then I lost motivation, but not interest, making as good use as I could of point and shoot cameras and high end smartphones. Now I'm back to a better photography, with a lumix1000 to start with and, hopefully get immersed once more. My interests right now are Sahara photography with its oasis, sand dunes and all forms of life it sustains (people, birds, insects and flora), together with the usual family phtogra^hy (vacations, celebrations, special events) AND the unexpectd.
Looking forward to reading from all of you, to walk my first steps in decent digital era photography.

Welcome Guerouig. I just got back from Egypt. Unfortunately I was there on business so I didn't get to see much of the desert. I hope to see your oasis and dunes photos soon.

I also just joined today. I have been enjoying reading the forums and tutorial and though I should start an account so I could start participating in the discussions.

I am new to photography, or at least new to being serious about it. I have a lot to learn but and enjoying the process. I really haven't done enough to say I have a strong focus in one area or another. I live in an area which lends itself well to landscape photography. Lately I've been focusing on black and white. Hi Ya'll! (That's not really how I talk, but "Hello All" was already taken. )

My name is Kay, and I live in South Carolina, USA. I love photography because there is a thrill about capturing a moment in time. Photography is strictly a hobby for me, but a passion, too, and I mostly shoot landscapes and nature scenes. I am excited to be a new member, and am looking forward to getting to know you good folks, and to getting some good tips and ideas. I shoot with an old Canon 30D, but am looking to upgrade soon...very soon!

I still have a 30D and it is a very capable camera.

Although, I don't use it that often - I still think a lot of it.

I used it to cover a trip to China in tandem with a 40D...

I've spent the last year working in Cuba where internet is hard to come by and often very slow - pages full of beautiful photos are too data heavy to even consider. I'm back now in Europe with better, faster internet. And a new camera, I've just bought a Fujifilm X70. I've always had fujifilm compacts and liked them and while I enjoy playing with my first DLSR I've resigned myself to the fact that it's just not practical to have with me all the time. The X70 is my compromise, it's almost pocket sized and doesn't have interchangeable lenses but otherwise allows most of what a fully manual SLR could do. At least I think so....

I will now spend some time going back over all the many threads I've missed in the last 12 months
