Hello, I am Ian living in South West England. I have been retired a while now so never been busier ... really. Used to know my reciprocity failure tables (look it up) off by heart for a few popular film stocks so that explains how much a photo-nerd I am. Now fully digital and adept at Photoshop, I shoot exclusively in RAW and spends many hours per week in Photoshop exploring our art.

Hello Ian, and a very warm welcome. It sounds as if you have a lot to offer, and since we are all about sharing and helping I hope you will.

Look forward to hearing and seeing more from you,

Dave (btw I have no idea what reciprocity failure tables are but suspect that nowadays i don't need to)

Hi, John, and a warm welcome to CiC. Hope we'll see and here more from you soon, now that you have time on your hands

I remember my uncle telling me that retirement is waking up with not quite enough to do, then going to bed having not quite done it all. I now know the feeling!

hello to Everyone! I'm from New York City and just joined! I learned a great deal from the website tutorials and hope to contribute where I can. I use capture One as a Raw editor and use Canon equipment. Years ago I did a lot of film and darkroom work but with family the darkroom went into boxes in the basement for 30 years. Now I'm back and have gone mostly digital. I hope to contribute where I can.

Hello all, My name is Ryan and I reside in Florida. I work for a library here, and have somehow been given the responsibility of digitizing items in our Special Collections department. I will be using an Epson scanner and a Canon EOS 6D for this project. All of this is new to me, and there will be a huge learning curve. I stumbled across Cambridge in Colour while trying to figure out what I am doing. I have found it very helpful, and am sure that I will be dropping by often.

    Thanks!

Hi there, I'm Dorothy and I am from the southeastern US. I've been a hobbyist photographer off-and-on since around the mid-80's, mostly in a scatterbrained, DIY kind of style. The bulk of my work is in film, even the recent stuff, but lately I'm working with a Sony a5000 which I'm enjoying quite a lot except for its lack of off-camera flash. Anyway, glad to be here!

    Hi,
I am Andy and I am an English teacher living in Taiwan. I like macro photography, landscapes, black& white(The almost constant haze in Taiwan makes for landscapes with little contrast; hence,B&W.) & everyday objects taken from odd angles & close-ups. As my post-processing skills are quite basic, I try to get things right as I can in-camera without having to do lots of editing.
    I use a Nikon D7100.

Hi, just discovered this site today and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from everyone. I've learned to get off of Auto setting and am trying to improve my skills. For now I'm taking photos of everything for practice, but lean towards landscape, nature, b&w and some sports. I'm shooting with my old Nikon D5100 (with the broken flash!) for now. But looking for an upgrade soon. Can't wait to check out all the forums on this great site. Thanks!

    Hi there all,

Just found his forum and woudl like to see how I go with exploring the different threads and also see what others think about my photography. I live in Northeast Victoria, Aus and have been interested in photography for far too long. I have so many interests in different areas of photography and generally have my camera with my all the time -well not in bed lol.
I do have a question and that is how do I edit and set a signature to my posts?

Hi. My name is Vivien, and I work in real estate. Recently, I purchased the Nikon D3400 to take pictures of my homes for sale. I've been taking some pictures on "auto", but I seem to get sporadic pictures which I have to manually adjust the brightness on them. I signed up on this site and am trying to access the tutorials to better understand the ISO and aperture, but I don't seem to be able to access this after logging in. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Vivien

    Hi Vivian,

You can access the tutorials from the top menu bar just under the Cambridge in Colour logo.

You might want to post a couple of examples in the nature and architecture forum and ask for help there.

Moving away from auto settings is certainly the way to go, Vivian, but there is a lot to be learned and it can initially become a bit of a struggle at times.

What editing software do you have?

The CinC tutorials here are a good starting point. Once you have become familiar with all the basics I would suggest having a look at this site, but it does make something of a substantial leap in techniques.
