Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here

Hello folks, in what I can only call a happy accident, I've found your wonderful forums! I've done some light photography for several years, however about 2 years ago I decided to get much more into it. I have a pair of Peregrine Falcons that live on my balcony, and I got the urge to take pictures of them that did them justice. Things snowballed from there! I travel a lot to a location around Miramichi, NB to visit my parents (Hi Veld! I travel through your region quite a bit flying in and out!) and get some birds and landscape photography in my town, which I've found some amazing nature sights! I also travel around the world for work, so decided to get some other lenses.... And well, now I'm here! I look forward to seeing all the beautiful photos that everyone has taken and improving my own!

Hello, and welcome to the forum. I don't know if Veld is your actual name or not. Why not go into your profile and put in you actual name and location, so that they appear in all your posts. Then we know who everybody is and where they are.

Hello, Nick. Welcome to CiC. I hope you find that this is a supportive forum. Any photographic questions at all, please just ask. No question is to stupid to ask on here. The only way you can find out is by asking.

Hello. I hope you don't relax too much to be an active member of the forum.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

    Hi, my name is Martin.
I am retired and living in SW France, lived here for the last 30 years.
Photography is becoming very important to me over the last couple of years even though I have a mobility problem which now effectively limits my subjects to those found in the house and garden.
Very interested in macro work and hoping to learn more about this and other aspects of photography here.

Hi, I'm Staran. I'm a life-long photographer who grew up in a family of professional photographers. (Yes, I grew up in a darkroom...) I've never taken a photography class as I was taught by my grandfather, grandmother, father, uncle, etc. I also taught myself from books such as Ansel Adams Zone System series of books and by keeping logs of film camera settings and processing notes for negatives, slides, and prints. I used to teach folks to take photos outdoors with no light meter, just by estimating exposure. I also taught photography classes and workshops, and led photo walks for 14+ years. My avatar is a photo from one of my "Splash" workshops.

    Hi Donald,
I am also a new Forum member. I can't find a way to add my location, even when editing my Profile. What are the steps to do that?

If you really want ppl to join in, add photos, VIEW PHOTOS, you need to make this site more user friendly. NOT READ THRU 8 PAGES of RULES and little special things needed to get in, then you need to sign in 15 times b.c each new page requires it.

Maybe you need someone to help you redesign this site. Its FAR too techy and complicated, and you are so stuck on yourselves you dont offer ANY HELP when someone takes the time to email you with questions.

How do you expect ppl to enjoy this site, the photos or ANY KIND OF JOURNEY when you cant even take the time to help someone when they POLITELY ask for it. I think you all are passive agressive and RUDE AS HELL
First of all, there have been no e-mails or PMs received from you. If there had been, they would have been responded to.

You obviously are experiencing problems that other members of the forum do not.. This would suggest that there is nothing wrong with the site.

On the matter of not being able to see images, I'd suggest you check your browser settings. If you'd like to explain what you are doing and what exactly you are experiencing instead of telling us how hopeless and rude we are, then we might be able to help.

Hi - I am new to the forum and looking forward to learning more about how to improve my photography skills. My main interest is travel photography. I publish a travel blog - www.lovetowander.co.uk - and aim to use my best photos to inspire people to make their own journey to places I have enjoyed exploring around the world.

Nonsense. If you had looked, you would have seen a lot of threads in which folks help each bother with site-related issues.

    Hi Margot.

Welcome to the forum. And despite the posts around your own here, we do respond to members and are a friendly bunch. After all, we're all doing this (photography) because we love it and hopefully helping and advising people who are looking to improve is what it's all about.

You'll see a lot of us have our location in the world listed alongside our posts. If you'd like to go into your profile and say where you're from, that would be great.

So, fire away with the questions, post images for critique, comment on what others posts and, generally, get right into the forum.

    Hi,
I am Richard from SW UK. I am a decrepit grey haired 80 year old and enjoy walking, gardening and photography, particularly travel, landscapes, architecture and monochrome. Sometimes struggle with the finer points of LR and Photoshop, so you may see me asking for help!!

Welcome Richard. Good to have you joining the forum. Great to see that you are into monochrome images. That's my own passion.

If you have any questions, want to air a view, or just post images for critique, then fire away. You could, if you wish, go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hello All, Peter Brass here from Ottawa, Canada. am a bit of a fence sitter when it comes to my photography, I still shoot film, 35 and 6x6, scan the negatives and use GIMP and PSP2019. How's that for f3nce sitting. I have a canon elph, ( not bad for research and observation notes) and I am thinking of a Sony mirrorless dslr at some point.

Hi everyone. My name is David from Hawke Bay New Zealand.
I wish to rekindle my previous enthusiasm for photography which I lost 3-4 years ago.
I preferred landscape but would happily 'snap' any subject that caught my attention.
    Cheers for now

PS: I use a Sony A99 with a number of lenses from a 14mm Samyang wide angle to a Sigma 150-500mm Zoom.

Hi1 my name is Robert Davis. I'm a retired musician and music teacher who has photographed since age 15(starting camera Zeiss Ikon Continamatic). I have some serious vision impairment but good central vision(but no field) in one eye so I don't need to shut the other! I need things simple so at the moment have a Canon 750d with a 50mm 1.8, a 60mm macro 1.8, an 18-200 telephoto and an old 28-70film lens right from the start of the EOS system. I like macro photography, landscapes and animals (specially cats). Because of my vision, it may take a while for me to get the idea of posting as I have neither website, Facebook or Instagram accounts (don't want). I will post a shot of self in the next few days.

Like so many folk on here. 3-4- years is not long. I 'lost' photography for about 30 years as life intervened. Se welcome back David and welcome to this forum. I hope you enjoy it.
