Re: Fresh Snow and a Dog
What a stunning dog. (Yes, no.2 looks slightly green-ish. The others, perfect)

Re: Fresh Snow and a Dog
As usual, Grace and Dan make an excellent team resulting in very enjoyable photos.
On my calibrated monitor, comparing the color of the snow on Grace's body makes it apparent to me that the second one is indeed slightly green. That bothers me more than the slightly warm cast in the first one. The third one seems to be just perfect.

+1 to Mike's assessment. I get the same when I look at them on my screen. Grace seems to like being out in the snow.

Re: Fresh Snow and a Dog
Thanks for the comments, folks. I didn't notice the green until I posted the photo and was simply too lazy to correct it an re-post. The auto WB tool in LR always seems to add an inordinate amount of red. So I always tweak it down. I'm also overdue calibrating the monitor on my PP machine.
Grace does indeed enjoy fresh snow. She's not too crazy about it when it gets a bit crusty. It is hard on dogs' feet when it gets crusted with ice. Every winter she breaks a couple of toe nails which has to be awfully painful. Dogs are very particular about their feet.

Re: Fresh Snow and a Dog
Grace is an absolutely beautiful dog and you catch her in all of her glory. I had some problems reducing the green a bit and ended up with the snow a bit overly reddish-magenta...
However I can usually live with an animal or person on the reddish side of things rather than the greenish.
In the same vein, I can live with warmer portraits of people and animals rather than cooler renditions.

Re: Fresh Snow and a Dog
Thanks, Richard. Yes the magenta is definitely an improvement over the green. Looks much more like the rich brown of Grace's coat.

Re: Fresh Snow and a Dog
It would be relatively easy to get the best of both worlds by eliminating the magenta cast in Richard's background without affecting Grace.

Grace has the most intelligent and penetrating gaze. She really is a beauty...
