Wine: The Bennetton (tm) colors of foil

    Setup
The background is black foam core. A medium continuous-light lamp is on each side above the scene. They define the shape of the foils by brightly lighting the sides. They also cast a small amount of light on the background to create attractive tonal variation. A small continuous-light lamp is on the front left also above the scene to brighten the front of the foils though to still leave them darker than the sides. Placing all of the lamps above the scene defined the shape of the top of the bottles by casting a shadow underneath each rim.

Beautiful image. I could see this in mural size on the wall of a restaurant...

I really like this one. By showing just the tops of the bottles it leaves a bit of mystery about the rest of the bottle but at the same time I still know what the rest looks like.....if that makes any sense.

Great concept and execution, Mike. I do appreciate your explanations of your lighting set-ups, as well.

Very nice Mike! Call the local wine bar and offer to sell them a really big print...it is sure to increase their sales so I'm sure they would pay a pretty penny!

Plus one to that. I could see that gracing a wall somewhere. Beautiful finishing in the processing Mike.

Well put together Mike, I like the randomness of the bottle heights/shapes and obviously the different foil colours. I note that some have been opened and some appear not to have been opened.
Having just counted the bottles it reminded me about a tune "Ten Green Bottles" standing on a wall! But don't ask me where that reminiscence came from Wine: The Bennetton (tm) colors of foil

That's by design. I expected some people to express preference for all of them to be either opened or unopened. So far, that hasn't happened.

a tune "Ten Green Bottles" standing on a wall!
I hadn't heard of that nursery rhyme tune. Maybe that's because Wikipedia says it's popular in the United Kingdom. Interestingly, the first five versions I played use the lyric "hanging on the wall" rather than "standing on the wall." How do bottles hang on a wall?

Speaking of the number, 10, I wonder if this photo dispels the rule that all photos should have an odd number of subjects. I hate rules!

Kudos to Peter for commenting on the fact that some of the bottles had been openned and some were untouched...or should I say "un-drunk". I thought that was the case but didn't want to show my ignorance if I was wrong

It's possible that all of the bottles that had been opened still contained every single drop of wine. However, in my case, don't count on that for any of them.

Seriously, two of the open bottles did indeed have a little bit of wine in them. One of them still does. I am the beneficiary of the other one that is now empty.

    Hi Mike,

I saw this yesterday - and I liked it.

I didn't notice that most were opened - seems obvious now we know - I must be slipping
