    Maury River

A series of photos from last week's visit to the Maury River...named in honor of Commodore Matthew Fontaine Maury. It travels past Lexington's Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute, where Commodore Maury worked in his last years.

The boating pictures are my first attempt at action shots. I can see that a bit more shutter speed may have helped. But I am fairly happy with the turnout. I used a CPF on some shots. Was a very windy and chilly day with the sun breaking through the clouds now and then.

Excellent and enjoyable set of images; only in the first image, i think, a higher shutter speed was necessary

Nice series Sam. I find #3 best compositionally and I agree with Nandakumar about the shutter speed in #1

Goo series, Sam...If asked to choose, my preference will be #2 and #3...the action shots are also good especially the one with the Lens Flare...the water looks treacherous and the rocks slippery...hope you are OK...

Thanks Izzie - about the treacherous and slippery rocks, its probably safer in the boats
