Very atmospheric and effective capture.
Very nice...was this a real night or converted to night? is that moon lit or..... ?
Wonderful mood! Def one of my favorites from your collection (pony will always be the winner) :-)
Makes for a very interesting viewing experience.
A bit spooky
Oh - gorgeous again!
Thanks for viewing everyone!
Hi Nandakumar!
I should of explained my method in the first post, this was taken in the pitch black at night.
The waterfall and other parts of the image are partly lit by moonlight and also I used an LED torch to shine on the parts of the image I wanted to light up
Hope that helps
Hi Matt,
I'd recommend (as nothing more than a satisfied, paying customer myself) Neat Image - that link shows how to use it quickly, but read on.~ its been a challenge on the PP side of things. I am pretty happy with it now even though it is a bit noisy.
You can give it a try free for 30 days I believe.
I'm sure it could remove (most of) the noise without unduly affecting the detail in this, more successfully than I have achieved with ACR/LR/PS NR for example.
Apply it before any sharpening.
For example; I use ACR prior to PS CC for my RAW workflow, in ACR I have ALL noise reduction turned off (or down to zero).
Then when I've done the exposure basics in ACR, open in PS CC and immediately use Neat Image on the picture.
It will auto-sample an area it thinks has no image detail, in order to create a noise profile, sometimes this might need to be moved to a different area of the image - for example; in this picture, I'd be sure to use a bit of sky without a star in it, rather than the rocks - the sample box can be dragged to a new area.
It is worth playing about moving the sample box about and seeing what results this causes to get an idea of how best to use it.
Alternatively, if there is no possibility of finding a 'blank' (noise only) area in the image; you could use a 'standard' noise profile for your make/model of camera and ISO and capture* used (* e.g. jpg or RAW). You may need to download these.
Great picture Matt, my only thought is that compared to daylight shots I have seen of this place, the torch lit water seems to be falling very close to the tree trunk (and you) - i.e. projecting towards us a long way - is that an illusion?
Cheers, Dave
A beautiful image Matt. As others have said it is a bit spooky. I do like the overall look of the image and I really like the
effect you have captured on the waterfall itself.
Thanks Dave I'll have a proper read of that later.
Im going back up to try and shoot at a lower iso and longer shutter speed to see if that helps, its all a bit of an experiment!
Thank you Rita, appreciated!
+1 to Binnur - find it too spooky too...the water is almost ghostly...
