    Beacon for Bibliophiles

Continuing with some mono, a couple of selective colour comps.

I typically don't like this type of conversion but find these both work well. The first one is really nice. Well done.

Very nice...I like the first one better...Those kind of lights around here I have not seen in existence.

    Re: Beacon for Bibliophiles

Thanks for the comments John, Dan and Izzie. Dan, I think that I have said before that I am ok with selective colour provided it has a purpose. Not generally happy when it is applied for the sake of it, particularly to the subject of an image. Having said that, that is exactly what I have done in the first image but the sandstone of the building being grey with age, almost produced the same effect and that is what I saw. I have tried to emphasise that by the partial mono conversion. Selecting the red brake lights in the second image was an attempt to enhance the perspective lead into the comp. However, I also prefer the first over the second.

Nice images, selective coloring in the second image works better for me

I like them both - I like them far more than I'd have liked full B&W. The colour is just enough

Rachel, thanks for the comment. Not everyone's cup of tea partly due to the fact that selective colour was overused a few years ago and ended up with a bad press. It has its place though.
