Love this image but, it seems that you might have masked out the background to get the white. The masking didn't quite work; leaving a ragged outline to the dog's.
In Perfect Mask (part of the Perfect Photo Suite) there are two tools that address this: The refine brush tool and the chisel tool. There are also several other tools which make masking quite a simple task(IMO, far more simple than using the selection tools in Photoshop)
