Another play with "Post Focus"
I tried a bit harder with using Panasonic's Post Focus technology to try focus stacking.
This is the same exposure as the one a few days ago. The differences in post processing are:
- excluding the frames that focused on the wall and background
- including all the relevant frames from the video (not just one in three)
- stacked using Helicon Focus
- some post processing in Lightroom
Comments welcome

Re: Another play with "Post Focus"
Hi Dave,
As an experiment, it certainly shows potential, although I'm not the most skilled 'stacking artefact spotter', nothing immediately jumps out at me.
There are a few 'odds and ends' that have become (globally?) sharpened more than they need be, but it is only a test shot.
Here's a link to your original thread on this topic:
Playing with post focus and stacking
for comparison of the initial stacking result shot (3rd image in that thread) and some information on what this thread is all about.
This result is much better, mostly because you didn't stack the entire range captured, excluding the wall and background foliage.
It seems to me that camera feature eases/automates the capture of frames suitable for use, but after that, results can be improved if 'someone who knows what they are doing' (e.g. yourself) is required to make the most of it.
Thanks for sharing the new result, Dave

Re: Another play with "Post Focus"
Looks like you have cracked it Dave. Everything that needs to be in focus seems to be in focus. Looks like a very useful option. I wonder whether Fuji will follow suit?

Re: Another play with "Post Focus"
Thanks, gentlemen. I'm a subscriber to CC, and use mostly Lightroom where extracting individual frames is a bit of a chore. However, if anyone reading wants to have a go, extracting in Photoshop CC is a piece of cake https://fstoppers.com/photoshop/lear...ny-video-29549

As an experiment, this is beautiful. William (chauncey) should be jealous...
