    Sunset

    C&C appreciated as always

    Sunset

After John's comment I looked at my PSD file and I suprisingly noticed that one of my levels layer was unchecked (invisible) and that's why the image looked a bit dull , so I replaced the old image with the correct one , sorry about it

Capture of the sky is great, water and abutting land would look better if there was some complementary colors shown.

Very nice looking SS. I might lighten the land and bring out just a little more detail.

    Re: Sunset

Hi John .I wanted to put the whole emphasis on the sky and the reflection of the sun, that's why I edited the image this way. I actually tried a version like you said, before editing this one .But because I brightened the land and water to show more reflections and color, the sky lost its impact. So I deleted it and edited the image this way. I might add a very slight pink color cast to the land though. Thanks for looking and commenting

Thank you Jim I wanted a kind of silhoutette image in order to put the emphasis on the sky. The sky losts its impact when the land and water are lightened.

    Binnur,

Viewing your image on another screen (cellphone) and the sky is more fiery and the reflection on the water is more vivid, however the land mass and foliage at horizon is totally black. Not sure if this is what you are seeing but it definitely gives image more impact. I can't believe that my calibrated editing monitor is set too bright, but it is a possibility. However, I know that android devices use a different resolution/color mode than monitors.

    Re: Sunset

Hi John , cell phones change the look of the image a lot, so I don't usually look at photos with my cell phone. I have 5 bracketed exposures of this scene and the land in the darkest exposure is completely black and the sky stands out a lot, but because I didn't want a completely dark image , I blended the exposures according to my taste.

BTW I updated my image after seeing your comment.I noticed that one of my levels layer was invisible in my PSD file and the image looked a bit dull. I uploaded the corrected version above. Sorry about it

No need to apologize, remember that a portion of our critique is based on our own personal tastes.

John, I increased the shadows a bit in the image for a more silhouette-like look. Although I still like my original ,you might like this one better

    Binnur,

On my standard monitor I can see the blades of grass and stones on the near left foreground, are you seeing it on your monitor? When viewing with the cellphone same area displays as black.

Very nice, Binnur. Nicely composed with the curve of the beach and awesome color. The only suggestion I have is to maybe try a panoramic crop removing equally from top and bottom.

    Dan,

Can you see detail in the foreground rocks on your monitor?

    Re: Sunset

Thanks for looking and commenting Dan. I will certainly try a panoramic crop because when I tried it by using lightbox it looked better, thanks for the idea. Sometimes I concentrate on editing an image so much that I just can't see what I can do more to improve the image. At that point the members of CinC help and that's why I love CinC . Thanks again

    Thanks Binnur,

I didn't want to give an opinion based on a faulty monitor.
