In the Darkroom with Walter Rothwell

Walter has written an article for me about using film and printing for scanning. I scan negs but Walter's methods are quite different.

    Anyone else do this?

I generally scan the negatives. Only scanned prints a few times mainly because I can't locate the negative.

It seems to me his workflow is at least in part determined by the fact that he retouches his print and he wants to preserve this work. Any of the other process can just as easily be done in PP (as could the retouching).

Just because he does this doesn't suggest that this is a mainstream approach. To each his own...

I have not shot a frame of film since I purchased my first DSLR. For a while, I shot both digital and film but, that was when I was using an older Olympus P&S camera and I could only get top quality images from film.
