This could be a broken piece of cork.
In this country there used to be cork sold in rectangles with a certain thickness. (thank you for letting me know the word ) and those "areas" when they broke they look a bit like this.

There is a tidal stream that flows part way around the periphery of our local airport -- whilst walking around on a beautiful & calm day I noticed how striking the patterns were along the banks of the stream, with the sky reflected in the water ... and I wondered if it would look like jagged mountain peaks if turned around 90%. So I took the shot, and that's what I ended up with. I just wanted to see how many would "think outside the box" and realize that I've rotated it
