Thread: Preseli: which version?

    Re: Preseli: which version?

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for your comment re E and I think you prefer it for the same reasons as me. It is interesting to see Manfred's conversion too. I know that his is punchy, but to me it is not Wales in those weather conditions. It is no coincidence, I think, that the art of watercolour painting flourished in the British Isles. I have, however, a few coastal shots near here, taken with a polarizer on one of those rare days which force me to wear sunglasses, where the colour and lighting are almost eye-assaulting!

I may be late to this conversation but I prefer E better on my calibrated monitor too. It is more natural looking to me and the snow is more pronounced.

    Thanks, Izzie.

BTW that's not snow! It was a glorious T-shirt weather day, with a few (hardy) people in the sea (this spot is about a mile or so inland, elevation at this point about 1,000 feet). If you mean the white on the rocks, I think it is a type of lichen, or some of it could be quartz.

    Cheers,

    Dave

Just to add to the comments. I used E in the piece I did, because the base colours looked most natural.

Your issues with the laptop are not surprising. I'm using a laptop right now, but I really miss my desktop which is at home, with its 27" wide gamut screen and decently wide field of view. On the other hand, the laptop is a lot more portable, but frankly I always tweak the images I've done on it when I get home.

Your 4-cartridge printer is NOT a photo printer. Photo printers start at 8 different ink cartridges and go up to about 12 and give you colours that are more vibrant than a simple CMYK setup. That being said, you really need to print a lot to justify the investment in a photo printer.
