I like it. So is a thumbs up from me.
Nice. Very strong leading lines. They took me straight into the image and the first thing I noticed was not the framing but the fact that the people on both sides of the escalator are facing away from the camera. That made my head hurt for a bit and prompted to look closer. Then I noticed the crop. Nicely done. I like it.
I like it, John.
The technique works well to draw my eye into the frame and up the escalator.
Very nice capture and processing in separating the escalator and people from the background.

A very nice notion of framing...really liked it![]()
Very nice and well exected. Could you perhaps clone out the stickers on the escalator glass bottom left ? they're just a tad annoying.
Well done!
Nice image John it works really well, I don't like the beige colour of the frame though.
Very nice image JohnI just want to say that the person on the right looks oversharpened as I can see some halos, I think you can fix it easily

Thanks all for the comments. I'm quite enjoying exploring B/W photography a little more.
Kaye, not sure I should clone out those stickers. They are a health and safety warning. Someone might hurt themselves.(But I know what you mean).
Matt, pure white was a bit stark so I went for a cream mount. Is it beige? Maybe my monitor needs looking at.
Binnur, - Eagle eyes.![]()
Nicely spotted, executed and processed. The image works really well and the quirky little extension into the frame complements the image. The piece is up to your usual high standards!
I can't see any halo on my laptop screen, so I'll have to trust Binnur's eagle eyes!
Nice out of bounds framing...the shot itself can be like a perspective shot just that this one is going up...very nice...
This works well for me, John. With all three shoppers facing away from the camera, one wonders if both escalators are travelling in the same direction.
Well done John! I too like the creative framing but, like Rebel, would prefer if the matte wasn't beige.
Seeing nearly everyone seems to be getting stuck into your matte colour I'll join in.... (but remember I did not start it) .
Actually the beige colour is not worrying me much at all but I think it is a color more in keeping a warmer/sepia toned print. What I prefer is the base of a matte always being wider than the sides or top. I realise that due to the image extending onto the side borders they are wider than the top but I do feel the bottom border should be at least as wide as the sides.
Usually I tend to ignore mattes unless they are awful (not in this case) or are an important element in the presentation. (which it is in this case)

I also see the halo, but otherwise think it is a terrific treatment.
Come to think of it, if John did not make that frame matte, then everything will be spilling white. Here the frame separates the image from the main picture and making it more obvious between the frame and the image itself...I like the frame separation...look at it again people...it is really nice...
Interestingly framed, I like this image.
