An interesting and well composed photo.
I agree that the second version is an improvement over the original.
My only suggestion would be to perhaps rotate the image slightly in the clockwise direction as the subject appears to be leaning to our left.
And I'd consider cloning out the sign, which is difficult to read and really adds nothing to the image.

A bit of both, the original was slightly underexposed and she was standing in a section with good lighting on the far side, so I only had to lift the lights enough to bring out detail on the clothing, face, and painting. I always read about artists preferring northern light to work under, yet here she and the other artists were working under artificial light, perhaps the medium used works well under those conditions.
So much in the image - very lovely. I can't get over the heels the painter is working in - Wow !
