Frozen
We had a 0 deg F day and it was time to do a project I could not do until now.
It was time to play with bubbles.
I shot these with my closeup lens attached to my 70-200 2.8. No flash. Just sunlight.
I first had to master the "blow", which in between teeth chattering and frozen, wet gloves, was difficult to manage. As soon as one (accidentally) landed, I had to heft the camera, focus and shoot - before the bubbles froze up and became cloudy.
Also, one of the components, Dawn dish soap, is blue. Pretty soon my snow was mottled blue. Not...pretty.

Re: Frozen
Well in spite of conditions ya did good. The crystals growing across the bubble are really cool. Particularly the first one is excellent. Sounds like a process that needs a helper.

Re: Frozen
I really like the first one, Maire. It works compositionally and technically. The second one doesn't have quite as much pop, but is still nice.
Two nicely done images, in spite of having to suffer through the cold...

Re: Frozen
Both are nice images but number 1 is special. I quit like the blue in the snow on it. Must admit that I can't say that I would have thought of doing this

Re: Frozen
Hi, Dan,
Yup. I think a helper would have been better.
#1 is my fave as well.

Re: Frozen
I really like that first one too. Just beautiful.
This is so hard for me to relate to though as my backyard thermometer is showing 93*F and it's only 11AM !

Re: Frozen
Thank you, Manfred!
I learned a lot by trial and error. The only given I had was the recipe for making the bubble mix.

Re: Frozen
Hi, Rita!
I have seen images of frozen bubbles and was quite taken with them.
I was grateful that the weather cooperated.

Re: Frozen
Oh Marie, it would have been much fun doing bubbles in the snow. When it snowed yesterday I thought of it, but I was so busy with my project I forgot all about it...Maybe I will have to wait for another snow day and get Bill to blow them bubbles for me...this is a great project. You did very well with them and my favourite is #1 despite the blue you mentioned -- it gives it more punch! Great job!!!!
