The interplay of direct light and reflected light is is really fascinating, John. I'll keep this style in mind when I visit it this summer.

I like that - the glow inside sets off the windows nicely.

We spent a week in Barcelona a few years ago and saw several Gaudi buildings but not that one. It was still incomplete. Also went to a concert in the Palau de la Musica. Another must see building is Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion.

Great image John, I've been to Barcelona but didn't visit this place unfortunately.

I cannot compare this to anything at all. I can't think..so all I can say is that this is beautiful.

John, it was a bit disorienting at first which caused me to explore the picture more, and it was well worth it.
    Nicely done.

The Sagrada Familia Cathedral is definitely one of Barcelona's highlights (as are the other examples of Gaudi's architecture). The part I found particularly interesting about visiting the cathedral is that it is probably the only modern example that I can think of where a building is being completed over the course of more than a century. This was often the norm with cathedrals, but not so much with modern buildings. I also found it interesting in how they melded the existing construction methods with modern ones.

Mike - one word of caution. This is an area frequented by Barcelona's pickpockets and one of our friends who has been to Barcelona a number of times was a victim, so be on your guard when you are in the area.

Thanks all for the comments. A place well worth a visit if you get the chance.

Mike, another easy photo opportunity is the market half way down las Ramblas and in fact las Ramblas itself which is usually full of street artists.

It's not completed yet. They expect it to be finished in 2026, 100 years after his death.
In way of time you may call it a modern building, but it's all handcraft.
Two years ago I was in the north of Spain and visited one of his first buildings, El Capricho.
