OK, Dave, but there is quite a bit of rather bland darkish foreground so I would be thinking about a crop from the bottom, and a similar amount from the right side. Maybe just lose the trough?

That would tend to concentrate the view more towards that excellent sky.

Yes, what I really liked about this was the sky and the low sun just catching the hedges. I think this crop preserves that whilst losing most of the redundant foreground. I still want to keep the big cloud at upper right as a "lump" so have not cropped in too much there. Maybe I should have kept just a bit more foreground? What an inconsiderate place to leave a hen feed trough!

Maybe part crop part clone might be another alternative.

Either way, the new version takes the viewer into the scene now. Along the hedge, with those wires also giving depth, past the cow where that tree leads upwards to the distant horizon and clouds above.

I like the crop better too, Dave but I am still wondering about that red cow. I think it is too red. Not until Geoff mentioned a cow, I thought it was a horse...I wonder if that cow give red milk too...

Thanks, Izzie. I must say that I did at first think it was a horse, but more because of the angle of view. It may be a bit red, though there are some very richly "red" cattle over here (e.g. Red Poll). Maybe it was simply blushing! In any case, yesterday I was reading a thread here re photo manipulation v. realism and I have decided that the red cow lives on.

'Red cattle' are still relatively common traditional breeds in many parts of the UK, Izzie. Something of a dual purpose animal which tends to give richer milk but in smaller quantities. Which is why many farmers switched over to the very high yielding modern cross breeds. But with milk production becoming less economic now, we will have to see what the smaller mixed farms do in the future. Quite a few around here have given up on milk production and changed to other things.
