    Worshipper at the Kaveri River

This beautifully dressed old woman was praying at a shrine along side the banks of the Kaveri River in Southern India. The Kaveri in one of Southern India's holy rivers.

A nice capture. The shadows might be worth lifting but I don't suppose you have the means to carry out any major PP though.

The shadows have been lifted to the point where I start to lose detail. The woman has extremely dark skin and the lighting was rather harsh.

This is SOOC original jpeg converted to sRGB.

I should have said "selectively"Manfred. The eye socket mainly and one or two areas of clothing. There is detail there.

Argh!. I need my Wacom Tabet and full-sized screen! Yes, I can get a bit more lift, especially out of the dress, but you are right; I have limited tools on the road and will have to tackle this when I get back home.

    A nicely composed photo.
The viewpoint allows a look at her surroundings and adds context to her gesture.

Do they wash their clothes in the holy water or even bathe in it? I see a pile of clothes there? This is nicely exposed. The pile of clothes and her attire plus those powder on that icon by the her feet makes the environment very colourful...

There were women washing their clothes there as well as people bathing (religious cleansing). Definitely a mixed use place.
