KFC Girl on the Mysore Highway

I was suffering from a touch of "Delhi Belly", so we decided to play it safe and had lunch at a KFC on the Mysore highway, roughly half way between Bangalore and Mysore. I guess they don't get a lot of foreigners stopping by as the restaurant gave us a tour through the kitchen, had us sign their guest book and of course didn't mind me taking a few pictures.

I'm surprised they would be surprised to see foreigners in a western styled establishment. So how was the meal as compared to any other restaurant? I suppose chicken is chicken but might expect different spices to be used. Nicely captured image.

Nice capture of a cashier who seems dramatically less impressed with you than the person who took you on the guided tour. Seriously, the story about being given a tour of the kitchen is really fascinating!

Our guide (person on left) and his friend were definitely not camera shy and asked me to take their picture.

I like this one a lot Manfred. It could be a pose or it could be candid, who knows who cares. She just looks great.

Nice images, Manfred, both of them great shots. Did you take some photos of the kitchen while on tour? Did their chicken the same taste as they have here in our part of the world? Just curious...

Candid for sure. I have some other posed shots. I was shooting in both stealth and posed modes.

Yes, I took some kitchen shots. Being a country where many people are vegetarians, they took great care to ensure that the veg / non-veg parts of the kitchen were kept separate. Even the walk-in freezer was separated into veg and non-veg sides. The veg fryers and non-veg fryers were in a different part to the kitchen (separated by a full wall).

The chicken was smaller, halal certified (India has a significant Muslim population) as well as having more of chicken taste. That being said, Indian people like their food more spicey that Westerners do, so the coating has a bit of a "kick" from the chilies used in it (and I had the "mild").

This is one of the kitchen shots.

I'm standing beside the entrance to the walk-in freezer. On the left is where they bread the veg dishes and on the right are the veg fryers. On the very right is the oven used to cook the meat (chicken). It washes and rinses the chicken before cooking.

Kitchen looks clean...very impressive compared to the street food certainly. I am impressed.

Nice follow-up shots and explanation of the divisions of food items.
