Far North Queensland
This area of Queensland has some magnificent country. I did a trip up there a little time back and I am heading back to Queensland in a couple of weeks; not as far up this time I am heading for Carnarvon Gorge.
Hopefully I will have some great shots to show you. Here are a few from the last trip to set the mood.

#4 is my favourite Peter - particularly with the scotch mist we have outside here at the moment!
The subtle colour changes that you pick up on closer inspection from near to in the distance are very special.

Thanks Kay,
This image looks great when printed large.

Re: Far North Queensland
As, possibly, the only Far North Queensland resident on this forum, I couldn't let this thread go without comment. I particularly liked your Fruit Bat Falls, Peter. Just to show a different side to the region here is a photo of a plantation on the Atherton Tableland. Any guesses as to the crop grown here? I suspect our Indian correspondents may recognise this as tea, though here in Australia it is cropped mechanically hence the neatly trimmed rows.

Re: Far North Queensland
Thanks Grant,
I was hoping you would post a few shots to show the members more of that beautiful country. I cannot see why you shouldn't post your bird shots. The sanctury is large and they roam free. It is not like they are in small cages.

Re: Far North Queensland
We were in Queensland earlier this year, mostly around Brisbane and a bit further north. Loved every moment of it, and we have promised ourselves that we will return to the area. Peter, I too like #4 - it has that beautiful subtle colour that we saw sometimes in the sea.

Re: Far North Queensland
It was a special place. Frangipana Bay is the bay you walk out onto from the rainforest when you get to the northern most tip of Oz. If you return see if you can get up around Cairns - both north of and inland, it is really special country.

Re: Far North Queensland
What we would really like to do is to stay for a couple of years and just travel around in a camper or suchlike. Will have to be when we don't have any animals with us, I think. The Corg would not do well in the extreme heat of Northern Australia.

Peter,
These are some great photos. The compositions are very good. I particularly like the Loyalty Beach photo.

Re: Far North Queensland
Cor; makes me want to travel. The bird does it for me and gives it the reality effect. But I have to put up with photographing local stuff I can get to on a bus because the government decided since I was disabled I couldn't drive anything, and sure as hell wouldn't get enough money to get anywhere exotic.
This is a spot on photo, I like it.
