    Small, carbon-based life form

    I have not had the chance to meet my (now seven month old) great nephew, but once I did I melted immediately. His parents are lucky in that he is an absolute angel - no major screaming, sleeps well, eats almost everything and smiles at everyone.

    I have never photographed small children before, so my technique is undeveloped, but I had to share how cute he is... and yes, I admit to being very boring but he is the first child in our family for 4 decades, so he is special.

    Very nice, obviously at ease with photographers been dealing with them for - well if not years at least minutes.

    Nice set. The first one is awesome. If you're going to go with the "carbon based life form" description, you might as well go all-in. It's a gender neutral carbon based life form of indeterminate age...

    LOL!!! Good one Dan. Yep that seems very good to me. I hope to start a program of taking his photo every year for as long as I can. I saw a couple of people whose lives were documented in this way and they made an amazing collection.

    Yes he is rather a cutie... Until now he has been fairly static, but he is just starting to crawl seriously and is already almost at walking, which will make taking shots of him a bit more challenging

    Obviously Dan you have forgotten any training you had in biochemistry. The blue pattern on the clothing is an absolute tell tail indicator. He cannot be gender neutral...

    As far as age goes I am willing to bet he is younger than any member of CnC.

    Hi Mike:

    Nope: NO experience with children in this life! I hope to collect a set of suitably embarrassing images that I can threaten to show his girl friends if he misbehaves when he becomes a teenager! In the meantime I took your advice, except for the catch-lights in the centre of his eyes as the eyes looked dead when the reflections were removed.

    This one is when his "battery" went flat! He was TOTALLY floppy. Sadly I think prospective girl friends will think he is cute, so not much leverage there...

    Did you try removing only the catch lights from the pupils and leaving the others in the image instead of removing all of them? Insofar as the catch lights are concerned, I prefer the first version to the second one.

    Children are cute and you are lucky to have this one in your family. He is such a cutie with blue eyes. There was a time in the history of Oz that only caucasian with blue eyes are accepted as immigrants in Australia. The first shot is very nice. Like or not, I prefer the first shot. In the second shot, his eyelashes seems to attract more as he seemed to be tickled for this shot. As for the third shot, it reminds of my boys being babies -- they were never a bother really but when it gets too much and they fall asleep, I love kissing them to death. I have a completely nude photo of my grandchild to tease her when she grows up and get interested in boys or vice versa. Start collecting them shots for later...
