    Admiring the view

When on a trip to the US Olympic National Park in Washington State, I was working my way up the rather ominously-named Hurricane Ridge when the clouds and mists of a passing front broke long enough for me to see this nearby peak, and I saw the two tiny figures of climbers inching their way up. They finally made it and as paused to admire the view and mostly likely catch their breath, and the light allowed me to catch the majesty of where they were and the significance of their achievement.

That's nice Trev. Might be worth bringing out a little more texture in the clouds.

Hmmm. It's a tricky balance between getting more texture and too much grain... still, here's another shot.

Nice shot, Trev. When we lived in WA we were pretty serious cyclists. One of our favorite rides was to start at the pier in Port Angeles (IOW at sea level) and ride to the top of Hurricane Ridge. The ride back down is really a blast.

I think you would have to apply the adjustment selectively Trev. Your second version has darkened the shadows on the mountainside. Something like:

    Hi John:
That IS an improvement. I tend to do very little in the way of PP. I cut my photographic teeth on film transparencies, where the image you took was what you got and I have tended to continue in that line. I can see the benefit of getting into this though and I shall have to knuckle down and get some training in LR and PS.

Thank you for your excellent fix!

The original for me is good as it was, but John's edit makes everything stands out more.
