Working Lunch
This is back from the summer. I've never been totally happy with it, the image is soft, but I do like the subject, so here it is. C&C Welcome.

Re: Working Lunch
At least the restaurant's not too crowded or then he'd look like a tool. Nice effort.

Re: Working Lunch
The martini glass is definitely a throwback to the working lunch of the 1970s and 1980s.

Re: Working Lunch
I think this might be one of the new leading-edge alcohol-powered laptops. They are made for sales executives, marketing and senior managers. The logic is that they will always be around a ready source of fuel when they are being used for power lunches and retreats...

Re: Working Lunch
Thanks John. It appears he's set himself up an outdoors office, complete with fresh flowers.
Mike, apparently the two martini lunch is not yet dead.
Trev, I didn't hang around long enough to see how much ethanol fuel was utilized, but he looked like he was tucked in for a while.

Re: Working Lunch
Hmmm...the two men, the one sitting down and the server are dressed the same. Was that a napkin on his lap or is that his apron? Just curious...something to think about...

Re: Working Lunch
What I like about your street work, Jack, is that you capture a scene. Whether it is firies on the job, school kids hanging out on the corner, or people doing lunch their own way, you show a slice of life. You are a story-teller, Jack.

Re: Working Lunch
Izzie, pretty sure he is just a customer eating (drinking) his lunch.

Re: Working Lunch
Greg, nicest comment I've gotten yet, thank you very much. I don't know that I always succeed but I do try to capture an image that is indeed a story. It's a lot harder than it looks and nowhere near as easy as just shooting away at anything that moves. Thanks again!

Re: Working Lunch
The question that arises when I look at this photo is what does the patron do when he needs to make a pit stop. That leaves him with 3 choices: pack up his gear, get someone to mind it, or secure it.
I saw a chap with such a dilemma in a café some years ago. After drinking serious amounts of coffee he had to go to the loo - as we all know we only really rent coffee, tea and alcohol for short periods. He was obviously torn about leaving his laptop, so he pulled out a security cable, wound it round the table leg and went to the toilet...
While he was doing so I went to his table, lifted up the table leg, which then let the cable hang free, wound the cable neatly beside his laptop and went back to await his return. Sure enough when he saw the cable he became confused - looking under the table and then when the table moved understanding dawned and he looked embarrassed. Still, I bet he learned a cheap lesson.
