Were you shooting in jpeg mode?
Very nice
The in-camera sharpness setting won't affect the RAW capture but perhaps your RAW converter applies sharpness; it may or may not apply 30% sharpness to the final output. It's interesting that you are capturing well exposed images, however the coconut looks a bit flat without any shadow detail. Then again, I've never seen a coconut that looks like this.
Nice DOF, how big was the nut?
So, is that 30% more sharpness setting applied to the A58's RAW data or is it passed to the Sony converter and applied there, do you think?
[edit] looks like John and I were typing at the same time with similar thoughts . . [/edit]
Probably like my Sigma SD1; when the raw file is loaded into the Sigma converter you can see the relevant sliders jump to the in-camera JPEG settings, ka-plink! Can't say I'm thrilled with that, which is why all my in-camera settings are zero

If you capture this scene when the light is casting a shadow on part of the coconut, that shadow will convey the shape to the viewer. Alternatively, you could create a shadow by placing anything between the sun and the coconut. Or as Judith mentioned, your final opportunity is to create that effect during post-processing.
