It does look nice.
The main subject works fine, Brian, but a pity about that background being a bit distracting. Not much that you can do about it though.
Sometimes I spend quite a bit of time before shooting to exclude any unwanted light sources through shading. It does take a lot of fiddling around though and too often I still don't get it right.
How about this version???
I cropped the image to avoid much of the distracting B.G. and I used the clone stamp at about 50% (selecting the darker green of the background) to override more of the B.G. such as the stem growing from the top of the blossoms and some bright spots...
I selected the blossoms and increased structure, brightened, increased contrast and saturation and finally sharpened them...

Brian,
Composition is entirely in the eye of the photographer or viewer. IMO, there is no absolute right or wrong!
It is indeed beautiful, but I think what Richard did with the PP takes it from beautiful to Amazing.
If you find it a bit cramped, do you think you could try to duplicate Richard's PP but keep your composition? The hardest part looks like it would be cloning that blue spot about a third of the way up on the right side. (maybe that is why Richard cropped it the way he did?)
Anyway very nicely done, both of you
