You'd think that would be prime real estate. Lucky kids. Nicely captured.
Nice shot if I may be so bold! What are they restoring the old factory to do now?
I had no idea swans did yoga...
Thanks. I'm not sure what the restored factory will become. The place stood empty for years, then arsonists caused a serious fire a few years back and the roof went, though most of the place is so well-built that it survived. The council then bought it and got an E.U. grant to restore it. It will probably be some sort of up-market office units. Pity the council didn't buy it before the fire. It had a lovely ibex weather vane on the original cupola.

This is best seen on an expanded version in Lytebox. Each brick placements are very sharp. The building is beautiful. I hope it is not hard to restore this thing unless otherwise they wanted it restored too to its original state inside. Very nice architectural shot...
What a shame with all those bricks...
When I was living full time in Oz, we collected used bricks in demolition sites and was able to build a 7-car wide, 8 car depth garage in our backyard. That also included a wide driveway for the kids to play basketball (just one hoop). the garage is still standing. That was over 10 years ago...
No...the bigger the space the more rubbish in it. We do not have a basement there like we do here in the US so it became a workshop for my husband to store his machines and also those that his dad left us when he passed on. It was only a little bit over an acre and I lost my vegetable garden building it. WE only had two cars in it and when the kids grew up enough to drive, their car occupied the basketball area in front of the garage. I still have Dad's lathe there and haven't touched it for years.
Now there's a project for when the weather is warmer!
I'm thinking if you can drag it out* and shoot it with Macro and/or UWA lenses, perhaps even at night and try light painting parts of it to achieve some dramatic and intriguing images of something that will be unfamiliar to many here.
* OK, so it probably weighs a ton - but just an idea that flitted through my mind (far easier than actually doing it)
Interesting to see the history of the site Dave - yes they're not doing a bad job there.
Though I still own the property, it will be kinda hard to do anything there now. I have my youngest son living there now and one day I might give that property to him. It is a good location fronting the beach...and he darn knows it too! Not living in the place for a looooonnng time but just visiting a day or two there, he feels 'ownership' if you know what I mean...Having my grandchild there in another area makes it kinda difficult to go back and forth an hour in the traffic too. You will know the feeling of having a grandchild more strongly when you like to visit for a while and do not want to overstay your welcome. But at least when I have enough, I go back to my own home for a few days, then I am ready to tackle little Anika again because I missed her so much-- the little cuddles, the goodnight and good morning kisses, they are all precious memories once I go back here to the US.
