Another nicely composed and executed image, Brian. You've brought out the details of the butterfly's wing out quite nicely. The out of focus background adds to the composition as well.

The negatives, a bit more sharpness (DoF issue) and the bit of glare off the wing (a polarizer would take care of that); but these are fairly minor issues. A nice conclusion to a nice set of shots.

You have made a great composition out of this one Brian. You, and the moth, should be very proud.

Thanks! I have been intentionally moving further back with my shots. Sharpness was bit of a problem because this is a wing crop from a full moth shot and the ultimate sharpness was not on the wing.

I agree with him too. But i got no polarizer and the focus was not on the wing so it was just a little soft.

Thanks, I believe that all of the comments and suggestions have finally percolated and this shot is the result. I can't promise I will always do this well but at least I am transforming.

and very rare. I have only seen this species 4 or 5 times in 15 years and before this never mating.

Perhaps more next year(?) if the eggs are laid close to you and in turn the caterpillars 'chrysalise' in your garden - or what's left of it after they've had their fill
