Which Canon Lens Do You Recommend

    Hello Guys !!!!
I'm thinking of upgrading my lens and currently i have
    Canon 50mm 1.8 STM
    Canon EF-S 18-135 IS
    BODY : Canon 60D
I'm a novice and just learning the trade and as suggested in the other thread i'm planning to upgrade my lens, though i own an APS-C body now in future i will be upgrading to FF for sure so i will be buying EF lens for sure. So can you guys recommend me which lens should i buy?
Normally these days i'm interested in Landscape, Night Photography and a bit of Portrait aswell and i will be buying a macro lens aswell as i want to try insects, bugs and flower photography.

Here are the lens which is in my mind :

    Canon 17-40 (landscape)
Canon 100mm f2.8 macro usm (macro)

What about for all purpose lens
    Canon 24-70 f2.8L or Canon 24-70 F4L
    Canon 24-105 F4L

As Well As what about the third party lens similar to above

Amit I have a sense of deja vu reading your post... Isn't it a repeat of the one you posted a week or so ago?

Re: Which Canon Lens Do You Recommend

I have the Canon 24-105 L lens Amit (on a 7D) but I have never been keen on it, with very variable results particularly with it giving rather soft focus at times, and it has been back for repairs twice. But other people seem to like it so perhaps I got a Friday afternoon lens!

However, after the last problem with it I started researching replacements and seriously looked at the Canon 24-70 options. Eventually after reading various test results I went for the Tamron 24-70 instead. At the moment, after about 2 years, this has proved to be a superb lens and it does have stabilisation.

Previously, I had regarded Tamron as being a budget lens manufacturer but recently they have produced some very good models.

What subjects for macro shooting? 100 mm will give excellent results if you can get close enough to your subject (or the subject is large enough) so it can be fine for flowers or inanimate objects including dead insects where distance isn't an issue. But for small live nervous creatures I wouldn't want to go less than 150 mm. My current macro lens is the new Sigma 180 mm which I often use with a 1.4x converter. This gets me to 12 ins from my target and I find if I can get that close on a regular basis I am doing well. A lot of my work means shooting from 2 ft or even greater distances.

You posted this exact question in a different thread only 4 days ago. This is not good forum etiquette. People will assume that you are trolling if you do this.

Amit - despite all the advice in the previous thread, you seem determined to buy a new lens. Go and get one, it will make you happy.

If you're still here and haven't disappeared to the camera retailer of your choice, read this:
    http://www.dpreview.com/articles/567...e-upgrade-path

Not everyone will agree with it but it makes sense to me. So, if you are determined to go full frame, stop mucking about with crop and go get one. THEN worry about lenses.

I visit CiC as my main photography technique forum because the majority of our time is spent looking at and critiquing photos. Any camera can take a great photo with the right knowledge, subject, skill and eye - we don't think so-and-so takes better pics because she uses a d810. For goodness sake get out there and shoot!

Amit... You still seem to think that the limitation of your photos is your camera, and by association lenses, but I believe in this one truth: better equipment doesn't make you a better photographer, you are the same photographer with better gear.

I have looked at a few of your photos and while they are good I don't think you are held back by poor technology yet. If you wait a while, continue to develop your skills and save up, you can make the change to the right technology at the right time. The industry is rife with temptations to make you want the latest piece of kit, that's how they make money out of their customers - the continuous upgrade cycle.
