These are superb Kurt - like Trev, I'm off to do a shoot like this in a couple of weeks and find your shots inspiring and something to aim for. I'm not sure about the moon in the first image, but I love everything else. I intend to use a single continuos light and shoot through brolly for the close ups as I'm not sure of the light in the space, so your mastery of natural light here really impresses me!
A nice series of Giovani Kurt, is his Mum pleased with them? (I would think so)
I have recently posted a couple of my own threads along these lines, perhaps you've seen them? (1 and 2)
I have sent the link to this thread for my daughter to look at, since I'll be visiting her on Thursday to shoot some more of my grand-daughter Chloe.
I have edited your post to separate and number the shots for ease of reference, which enables me to provide a little feedback I hope you'll find useful.
#1 Nice idea, but I wonder if the moon should be blurred a bit?
#2 I love the colours and the background, but Mum's feet need toning down a lot (Elements has a "burn" brush)
#3 Again, a good idea quite well implemented, the only suggestion I have is to remove (clone out) that bright slit of light above Mum's head, which it looks like you did in #4.
#4 Red is quite a bold colour that always attracts a viewers eye, so normally having any in the background is not recommended, however since there's also some red in Giovani's clothes, it is kind of OK.
#5 The white in the background is an eye magnet, best avoided when shooting ideally, but you might be able to tone it down in post processing.
#6 A very nice arrangement
#7 Wouldn't this work better with the subject (feet) brighter than the background?
#8 I like this one too
#9 Cute
#10 There's some sharp, light rectangles along the bottom edge of frame that would be better cropped off I feel, but that's a nice concept.
I hope my thoughts are helpful, although I note they were shot 3 months ago, so I guess he's quite a bit bigger now
All the best to you and your family, Dave
Nice captures.
A lovely baby and lovely images
Dave, thank u very much for the insight I am missing.......I am gonna take each photo and try to better it per your advise, much appreciated.
A beautiful set of images and all the more impressive for your first attempt at this.
I like Dave Humphries comments, also.
why is #2 a photo of Neal Young? I didn't post that.
Unfortunately, that is an ongoing bug with TinyPic. They recycle urls and their servers around the world are not always in synch. Give it a anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days, and the right image eventually shows up. I see Neil Young (?) too (and I'm in India right now), but others are not reporting this issue, so I suspect this is because they don't see the image we are...
As an aside +1 to Dave's thoughts and comments. You have an original and well conceived series of images here.
i love baby
