Malay Lacewing
The Malay Lacewing butterfly rarely shows the topside of its wing. I got this image as it was opening its wings. Sadly, this butterfly has a slightly damaged right wing.

Re: Malay Lacewing
I'm officially jealous. We have this beast in our garden but I have yet to get one to sit still long enough to get a shot this good.

I am sorry your variety is a bit flittery. You probably won't like some of the other images I shot of this butterfly. I'll get them processed in the next few days.

Brian, spread some honey around to keep them in place for a while. As Dave said, they like rotten bananas too...
John that is a very pretty shot. I love it...almost prefect. 'Shame about its damaged wing but it is not easily recognizable -- only because you mentioned it.

Really nicely done catching him against that dark BG. Good job.
