Fishermen at the Tungabhadra Dam
We made a short detour on our drive from Hospet, where we were staying to Aihole to see the Tungabhadra Dam, which was completed in 1953. The water level is dropping at this time of year, but fishermen were still out there at work.
I've divided the image into a water and land part of roughly equal size. After the monsoon rains come (from mid-June through to mid-September), the land is covered by water.

I'm always a sucker for diagonals, so this works especially well for me.
Do you know whether the fishermen were preparing to go out on the water or to bring everything in?

I don't know for sure, Mike. Based on what I've seen before in the local fishery, they are likely removing the catch from their net, so I suspect this is the end of the day for them. They sell fresh fish at the local markets and the roadside, so the timing coincides with when people are likely to buy fish for the evening meal. No frozen fish here, It's catch of the day that end up on dinner tables and restaurant menus.

Very nice job... Ilike the way that the fishermen along the shore with nets lead my eye to the three fishermen around the boat...
