    Twig in the Snow

    Sometimes, the harsh light from the sun at noon seems to work well.

    This is very nice Andre, but it makes my head hurt;

    In the background, top right, there seem to be shadows cast on the snow from a different direction.
    In the foreground, some of the shadows seem to be pointing in different directions, although I suspect it is an optical illusion caused by the slope of the snow drifts below those short sticks.

    Can you lose the shadows in the top right perhaps??

    Dave and Kaye have already said exactly what I was thinking. Otherwise, a good scene.

    Me too... +1 to Kaye's suggestion. It was my first thought too.

    Nandakumar,

    Does that mean that you detected an element of artistry in my photo? If so, that would be a encouraging first for me.

    Dave,

    I'm sorry. I did not mean to hurt anyone.
    There is no trickery here. The shadows in the top right corner come from an apple tree located slightly to the left of the photo and just beyond the three rabbit tracks(the white patches top left and centre). The apparent wrong direction of the shadows actually comes from the varying angles of the branches with respect to the camera and the sun. The snow on the ground is mostly flat and quite smooth.

    Kaye, Geoff and Izzie,

    Had the shadows in the top right corner been pointing in the opposite direction, I probably would have cloned them out. As they are, they introduce an element of surprise and tension which encourages the viewer to examine the photo in more detail. I believe that removing the shadows would result in a more pleasant but less intriguing picture.

    Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.

    The image gives me a sort of Zen feeling...
