Nandi statue
Nandi (the bull who carries the Hindu god Shiva) is carved out of a single monolithic block of granite. This statue is sitting in front of the Virupaksha Temple at the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Pattadakal, India

Re: Nandi statue
Great image; the pandit seeing looking elsewhere gives much originality to the image as if you were shooting from there in an "invisible mode"

Re: Nandi statue
Thanks Nandakumar - I tried a trick called "hiding in plain sight".
I decide to not visit the interior of the temple with my wife and our guide. I have foot problems, so tend to wear high cut hiking boots anytime I am out and about in rough terrain. I decided that taking off the boots was going to be too much bother (taking them off and putting them on, that is).
I just walked around with the camera and kept looking as if I was taking pictures. Initially the pandit watched me as I puttered around, so I have a few shots of him looking at me. Eventually he stopped paying attention to me and I managed to get this shot. This seems to be his normal "pose" as he was doing this before we got there and as we were leaving.
If I can do so in a controlled manner, I do like having people in my architectural shots. They tend to give both a sense of scale and make the images look less sterile.

Re: Nandi statue
You're right Manfred, having him there does make it more than just another photo

Re: Nandi statue
Another interesting subject and an awesome job with the lighting. Nicely done.
Your "tour of India" series is saving me the expense of a trip

Re: Nandi statue
I like this. Both the man and the statue look chilled.
I like your "Hiding in plain sight" technique. It's something I will have to try out.
