I like the composition of the food shots; the blossom gives a natural feel. The high saturation also makes the pictures appealing.

My one concern is your lighting - I'm guessing you used natural sunlight which has created some very harsh light, with hard transitions between light and shade. Ideally I would shoot this with large softboxes and flash /strobe, but failing that a window with some white paper can make a makeshift softbox and reflectors.

I'd also consider using a deeper depth of field, or focus stacking in post to make sure that the things you want the eye to focus on are truly sharp.

    Hi Vaez:

Great to have your contribution! I have enjoyed some food from Iran, and it was absolutely delicious, so you have a good product to promote.

I agree with Simon, plus I would suggest giving the food more space between the dishes, perhaps one dish per shot? I am not sure about the table cloth... it provides a lot of colour but it produces a distracting background. I would go for a light, plain white or off white background if you can find some suitably wide paper or fabric - but with no creases. Of the group shown, the bottom 3 are my preferred shots.

Showing the preparation of the food, and having someone offer food to the camera is a great idea, but it will have a much greater impact if they have a welcoming, encouraging smile while doing so: get them to imagine they are offering it to you rather than the camera. My experience of Iranian people is that they have a warm heart and great hospitality, so it would be great to let that shine through.

Vaez, these photos made me feel hungry! I agree with most of what Simon and Trev have said. My favourite photos are numbers 3, 6 and 8.

Vaez, welcome back. I've missed your postings. My favourite here is #6. Perfect. The rest of them has some shadowing problems.

I would consider #8 the only valid candidate for your exhibition, while #3 and 4 adds a cultural aspect to the theme. The arrangement in #1 is a bit dull, perhaps angle the carrot or reposition the rounded objects and add a bit of contrast. #2 appears to be more focused on the flower and 5-7, 9 needs to be more in focus. Consider adding/utilizing steam to convey heat and aromas. Nice efforts.

Welcome back Vaez 3,6 and 8 for me. I leave the technical comments to experts as I don't know much about food photography .
